The newest website showing up on fake price comparison site everyprice.com with unrealistically low prices is http://www.jerseyshoredigital.com/. It’s an alias of 1wayphoto.com, AN ABSOLUTELY FRAUDULENT ENTERPRISE, as evidenced by the reviews here. The operators of 1wayphoto have taken down that site and replaced it with this one. Please, read the reviews. If you do not, these criminals will abuse you and rip you off.
How do I know that Jersey Shore Digital is a bait and switch website?
The URL was registered in March 2009. Yet they have posted what are obviously fake positive reviews here, including one from “Sandra P.” that states she has placed several orders over the “past several months” despite the fact the site hasn’t been around that long. Buried in these testimonials is one from Thomas K.:
WOW! what an experience. Let me tell you what my rep Kevin did for me. I had my wifes birthday in little less than a week, After talking to her friends i narrowed it down to the Nikon D200. The only problem is I knew nothing about cameras. Then after speaking to kevin(which felt like an hour),we set up the perfect lense package and got my wife exactly what she wanted.Thank You Thank You- Thomas K.
What a coincidence! Look what Thomas K wrote on the 1wayphoto website:

Although the 1WayPhoto website is down, you can take portions of other testimonials on the jerseyshoredigital website, put them in quotes in Google, and then find the exact testimonials on the old 1WayPhoto website.
But most damming is the following, which as of May 23, 2009 is on the jerseyshoredigital website, and I’ve saved a copy of this page for possible future use in litigation:
I want to send you an e-mail thanking you for the excellent service you provided to me during my recent purchase of a Nikon D70 S camera package. I had spent about a week researching many brands and models of SLR digital cameras. The choices are overwhelming. After deciding what camera and lens combination I was Interested in, I checked prices on the internet and at local retail stores. Jerseyshoredigital.com had the best prices and offered a large selection of Nikon products to choose from. I sincerely want to thank you for assisting me in finalizing my purchasing decision. Without your help I would not purchased the optimal camera, lens and flash package for the type of photography I plan to do. The service you offered was exceptional and all of the items I purchased were shipped together and received on time. Again thank you for making my purchase with 1Wayphoto a pleasant experience. "I will be back" - Paul S.
In case you didn’t catch it, these guys forgot to replace 1Wayphoto with Jersey Shore digital. Not only are they criminals, they are sloppy.
There are numerous other signs that this website is completely fraudulent. At this point, I am actually concerned that they are doing more than bait and switch fraud, and may be in fact conducting credit card fraud, based on the reviews on resellerratings and certain signs on their website. A search using Yougetsignal indicates that they are located in New York, not New Jersey. The links at the bottom of their testimonials page do not work. Thus their “Hacker Safe” logo indicates that it was last tested in August 2002 (this normally is a hot link, tested daily). Their “verified by Visa” and “MasterCard SecureCode” logos are also not hot links, indicating they’ve simply cut and pasted a JPG. This is pretty ominous.
If you’ve made the mistake of giving them your credit card, cancel it immediately. Report this company to your own State’s attorney general, the Feds, and to the State of New York. Please post any contact information that you have for them (address, phone number) below in the comments section as well.

Nice job, and thanks!
When I see a too-good-to-be-true price, I check for reviews of that site. So far, they have ALL proven to be "buyer beware" sites. Mostly they push over-priced accessories to bloat the total cost of the item. They all seem to be hard to pin down when there is a problem.
A few just take your money and run.
Thanks. You are performing a public service.
Check for the best price, but support reputable dealers. It's worth the few extra bucks.
Thank You.... You have saved me a lot of frustration, hazel and most likely money. I was getting ready to purchase from these criminals.
Thanks, Dave. I fell for it and sent in an order a few hours ago for a $400 camera, then started getting emails requiring that I call them, which I tried to do for a while. Pretty sure they're beyond just fishing for add-ons, since then they would have had open phone lines, at least, so on the strength of your comments I canceled that credit card and am hoping for the best. In any event, thanks, and cheers, Armand
definite thanks. Their ad was lower than I've seen, but not so low as to be ludicrous. But after checking them out....the saying is true. If it seems to good to be true, it is.
Seems like B&H, Adorama and Midwest Photo Exchange are still the best
If you want to make it unprofitable for them to sell just get everyone to google their web site then click on their page, search around and then leave. They get charged for the number of hits they get on the site by Google. If enough people did this it would run up a very large internet bill and perhaps they would not be able to continue on with bait and switch advertising
i really appreciate your hard work.. thank you for keeping us awake and aware
xheck out rogerscamera.com, they look like a jersey clone and they bait and switched me today. Total scammers, I am going after them with both barrels. If you can connect a couple more dots between the two (rogers and jersey) I'd appreciate it, pretty obvious but the more evidence the better. Thanks.
Here is the jersey address if you have not found it yet, from their contact page-

Thanks so much Dave. I was actually going back to jerseyshoredigital.com to buy a lens but figured I should look for reviews first. You saved me several hundred. I'll stick with B&H or Adorama. Thanks again!
-Courtney
Thanks i should have read this before i placed the order but i got my bank to make a fraud case before my money leaves my bank since i did cancel the order!
Thanks for your post. I wanted a super zoom camera and they had one at less than $100 of what the major stores were asking and the reason they give for this is that the handle a huge volume of products and can therefore manage the discounts. I'm always wary of little known stores offering great deals but I admit this one had me for a while. I thought I'd check it out and now I'm glad I did. You've saved me a lot of headache. Thanks again.
thank you sooooo much! luckily i checked for reviews before ordering from these people. thanks for the heads up and for doing all the leg-work and sparing me the hassles!
Great job! Found your review before placing an order -- you provided a convincing case and so I shopped elsewhere.
WOW!! Thanks a lot. I stumbled on to this site and glad I did. I was comparison shopping and thought I had found a good seller, from all the data I'll stay with the ones I know and trust. Thanks again!
There are many others Jewish stores similar to this:
www.ShopCartUSA.com
www.DidUPrice.com
www.86photovideo.com
www.stopandshopdigital.com
Most of them are located in Brooklyn. These criminals change names, so tommorow you'll see a couple new ones.
Many thanks for your diligence in sleuthing. Something made me google the website " + reputable?" and yours was the first site up. You really are providing a huge help.
Thank you for your posts, I'm about to buy a Nikon D90 and tried Prophotonation, Bingo Cameras, RogerSCAMeras, and was about to try jersey shore digital. Each site has been listed by you and numerous others with horrible experiences as bait and switch sites, and thankfully each order that I tried with these websites I got cancelled relatively quickly and have switched bank accounts, I'll just pay the extra cash for a non-grey market item, no upsell hassle, for a good product and the privacy/protection of my bank account/credit/debit card. Thank you very much again, as all the previous people have mentioned, you really are doing a public service.
Chris
Unfortunatly I placed an order with these guys and had to cancel my credit card today when some fishy things happened.Lesson learned.
I just found their link on the Shutterbug site after reading a 5d Mark 2 review. It said "Lowest Legal Price for 5D M2 from Jersey Shore Digital." Their price is $300.00 lower than anyone else and I figured something was amiss. Thanks for your hard work in exposing these thieves. Pro photographers don't need crooks in this economy. Shutterbug is a good publication and should consider removing their ad.
thanks. The site sounded too good to be true.
In all seriousness, these businesses do a disservice to an entire ethnic group. When you see "closed Saturdays" in conjunction with so many of these businesses that offer no mailing address, it brings down people's opinions of anyone associated with such shady business.
I didn't see your post until after I placed an order with Jersey Shore Digital (JSD) using my credit card. I went to check the status of my order and couldn't find a way to do this on their website. Very suspicious!
My credit card was not charged after several days and I only received an e-mail from JSD to call and confirm my order before shipment.
Thanks to your warning, I have cancelled my credit card. It has been nearly a week and I have not heard back from New Jersy Digital.
Thanks but unfortunately I ordered Mark II 5D yesterday. Now, I'm trying to cancel the order so I can be out of this trouble. I got a order comfirmation eamil that say it is processing and doesn't show even what I order. Nothing happen so far. Please let me know the detail if you have some idea to solve this trouble.
Thanks. Was ready to order a $1K camcorder that was several hundred dollars less than the closest competitor. Thanks to everyone's comments, I'll stick with a distributor with whom I am familiar.
kind of interesting that their hours are almost identical to b&h. probably not even real hours, just a way to look legit by slightly altering an industry leader. these guys are very clever, i'm just glad i saw this post before they preyed on my desire to save a few bucks in getting my photography business off the ground.
Thank you! I too was about to make a purchase but wanted to see if anyone said anything bad about this company. Luckily, I found this site and saved myself a potential headache and lots of money. I was looking into the D90 and was going to call and ask them just how they can sell it this cheap. Also, I was looking for an address since I wanted to see the camera for myself and pick it up in person tomorrow even if it meant driving to the shore.
Thanks for your Post. I wask about to order from them.
In response to the Jewish issues- as I Jew myself, I have these comments:
- Even if some of the fraudulent shops are Jewish run, and I have no idea if this is true or not, keep in mind that the most trusted and reliable industry leaders (B&H and Adorama) are Jewish too. So, let's not start associating Jewish with fraudulent.
And, I wouldn't be surprised if non-Jews running fraud shops would want to mirror the style of the Jewish shops, including the hours, so that they look more legit.
-A religious Jew in the depth of his humility bows before the Divine on his day of rest, and would never think that business matters should interfere with his weekly obligation to honor what he perceive as God's word.
So, rather than judge the shops for their hours, it is wise to see that it is a sign of the shop owner's integrity to let go of his business interests for the day and fully, without any interruption, be with his maker and his family.
Interesting fact- it is a mitzvah (which means a blessing) for a man to make love with his wife on the sabbath.
p.s. I am on this blog because Beach Camera just let me down on an order, and I am searching for a reliable shop that has my camera in stock. And, I too, wish the shops were open now- Friday afternoon- yet respect them for honoring what they see as God's decree of taking a day of rest.
Dave (and the others that have posted here), I loudly applaud your efforts! I have never done business with any of the crooks (sorry, Alleged crooks) that you expose here, but whenver I see a "too good to be true" price on electronics, I aim their name at a search engine.
Usually, I'll find those site names posted in an entry here, and I go no further.
Here's the really scary part, that made me decide to post today. I'm shopping for a particular video camera, and when I searched on eBay, I get a page of 'Sponsored Links' showing the $1000 camera for about half price. Hmmm, what's this all about? Seems these creeps pay Yahoo a chunk of money, and they become 'Sponsored Sellers' on eBay (and I'm sure many other sites that Yahoo has their fingers into). No seller ratings, because they don't need to be eBay sellers. Here's the eBay explanation:
'Sponsored Links are provided by Yahoo! Search Marketing, which generates sponsored search results by allowing advertisers to bid for placement order based on specific search keywords. Matches are based upon relevance to the specific search terms used in your query.'
Moral; Beware, as usual, that link on a 'reputable' site probably points to a questionable seller, if the price is unrealistic. I'm calling B&H on Monday morning. End.
I was so close to buying from these people. I thought it was a bit odd when I called them at 6:00 PM on Wednesday and got their answering machine saying "You have called outside normal business hours. Our regular business hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM t0 7:00 PM..." But, but, it's Wednesday and it's only 6:00! That's when I started researhing. Thanks so much for the info!!!!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you. I have Googled about five businesses so far today (as I'm in search for the "best deal" for a new Nikon D90) and I have been repeatedly led to your blog for too-good-to-be-true advice. So, thank you!
I purchased a package with a camera body, 2 lenses, tripod, carrying case, high speed memory card, lens cleaning kit, charger/battery kit--I think that is it. I had to call them about my order after they left a message on my phone. I spent like 30 min with the guy trying to add on much more than I needed and could afford. It was super annoying. My package with shipping and tax was about $1,300.00--my ULTIMATE max I could spend, He talked sooo fast adn tried to trick me into including all this extra stuff and at one point the total was $2,200, I kept insisting that I literally had no more money in my account to spend, and I was weirded out by how quickly he lowered the price everytime I sounded like I didnt want anything. I ended up spending $300 over my limit because he kept insisting incorrect info. for example: I read about a certain lens that was not good and was rated terribly on several websites, and the sales guy tried to sell it to me by insisting it was the best product they had. He was like the "Sham-WoW" guy--talked rapidly and was pushy, I could tell he knew nothing about cameras. Anyway, I paid for express shipping because I really needed the camera for my trip. I got it on time and all the accessories and everything was perfect--I guess I got lucky. I am not vouching for them at all, but now I am nervous about the company. The guy I talked to was like a sketchy used car salesman with a heavy Jersey/Boston accent. I am glad I recieved all that I ordered-- I didnt research too much on where I was going to buy the camera, just which camera I wanted and I was tight on time due to my trip so I went with them. But I would not again.
I logged in to B&H Photo chat and asked for a price match to one of these fraud web sites - the reply I got from B&H Photo was a link to your web site and a short explanation that they trust me not to fall for these baits.
They got me! Pleae help! I paid $1569 for nikon d90 & 2 lenses. Its not new like they claimed & its in the wrong box. I've contacted a lawyer, but what else can I do? I am so fucking pissed that I fell for this "good deal" :(
thanks, I ordered an olympus 2 days ago from Jersey Shore, and wanted to call them up. No phone # so that made me suspicious. So I googled their name and lo and behold up comes these comments about these guys or girls are crooks. Thanks, I reported info to mamerican express and cancelled my account just in the nick of time!
I placed an order for a camcorder a week ago, received an automated reply with the receipt and then heard nothing. Considering their promise of "Fast Order Processing" I found the lack of communication disturbing. That's when I found this website. I called them up to determine the status of my order, they said it's backordered and will be weeks before I get it. I stated my disappointment in the lack of communication and, to their credit, the person I spoke with was very nice when I told him I'd like to cancel the order. He said no problem, and cancelled without fuss. I still would encourage people not to buy from them (and I'm going to be watching my credit card VERY closely for the next month or so)
I am so glad I looked up the reviews for this JSD company! I couldn't believe what I was looking for was $200 cheaper. Something told me that their prices were just too cheap! Your article saved me from a real disappointment. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I fell for this company 18 months ago just because I want to save $50. I ended paying a few hundred dollar more on total junk. I wished I had come across this site earlier, instead of an expensive lesson. Nonetheless, appreciate what you have done to keep others from becoming a victim. Based on the accent, the shop seemed to be run by Indian origin, as opposed to Jewish.
In shopping spree for new Canon 7D I have hit the www.JerseyShoreDigital.COM with their “outstanding price” but then I also ( Thanks to God ) hit this site ... Thanks to God !!!
Anyhow, thank you for saving me from hassle. You do a great service to justice.
Thank you!
As of October 3, there are two new sigtes with cheap cameras, that have the same feel as Jersey Shore Digital. I found them on Nexttag.com. They are Camera Kings, and Primo Cameras. Has anyone checked these places out?
I would also recommend Calumet Photo, Canoga Camera and Amazon.com (if the item is sold by Amazon). They are straightforward honest places to deal with. They may not have the "lowest" prices but are definitely competitive. Adorama seems to have cleaned up their act from some years ago, so they may be worth considering.
I got wise to the scam artist web sites years ago. Before the web they advertised in the photo magazines with the same low, low prices. Most are located in and around New York City.
They're definitely a questionable operation. I just placed and canceled an order. When I call to confirm, I was told the camcorder did not include any of the accessories listed on their site as "INCLUDED ACCESSORIES." Instead they wanted me to pay $150 for the items. The camcorder sells for $20 more at Abe's and $30 more at Best Buy, which had the usual manufacturer's starter kit they wanted me to pay extra for. Wish I had searched online before placing the order.
thanks for this. I am always skeptical of online ordering from companies like this as i got jipped one before. This was good advice thanks.
Buyer BEWARE... This is not a company YOU can trust, nor want to do businesss with. They do bait and switch. I wanted to purchase a Nikon Coolpix P90 digital camera, advertized at 339.00. My final bill turned out to be 508.79. And I did not receive all of the items listed as included equipment. I caution YOU once more...BUYER BEWARE
