A brand new site showing up on Google Adwords is DigitalHawks.com. There’s no user feedback anywhere yet, but I’d be very careful in dealing with these guys. You’ve been warned.

Thank you so much for posting this. I had just placed an order with Digital Hawks over the weekend. I talked to them on the phone today to verify my order and they offered me a "deal" on another camcorder battery and the warranty....which said he was giving me a "deal" on that too. It just didn't feel right so I did another search to check out reviews on Digital Hawks and then I found your blog.
I immediately called my credit card company and they suggested I cancel my card. Luckily they hadn't put the charge through yet.
I feel better getting rid of that credit card number since it is useless to them now. Within minutes of talking to my credit company, Digital Hawks called me and said that my credit card was declined....that is how close it was to going through on my card!! I had hardly hung up the phone from cancelling! I let the call go to my voice mail but they said they would call tomorrow. I hope that is the end of it. Thank you so much for giving us a warning!
I placed an order with digitalhawks prior to researching complaints about the site - a mistake. Within 10 minutes after submitting the online order, I received a phone call and email indicating that there was a problem with my order. So, I called back, and they wanted to verify that my billing and shipping address were the same - SCAM ALERT! Without a pause, the representative told me that the item I had purchased would not work without an additional SD card. But, the unit already had 2GB, with about 600meg to spare, after everything was loaded. I called him a liar, and everything went down hill from there.
I was looking for the cannon powershot d10 and the lowest average price was $300. Digitalhawks.com had a listing for about $270 which is $30 cheaper than anywhere plus they include a tripod. I was very skeptical and although i have not done business with them, i would rather spend the extra $30 and go with a trusted seller like amazon or crutchfield.
I talked to DigitalHawks today and inquired about a camera listed at a regular price of $899 on sale for $549.(A truly great deal) As we spoke he offered me a "great" deal on a battery and memory card for $248.
I shopped at Best Buy yesterday and knew these items were $119 so I hung up to double check Best Buy and confirmed the $119.
I called DigitalHawks back in less than 10 minutes to only buy the camera. The same salesman I talked to 10 minutes erlier told me they were sold out.
It seems to me that their profit margin was in the battery and memory card.
Don't use this company - they charge your credit card without shipping the product. I am still trying to resolve the issue with my credit card company.
Thank goodness I found your blog! I had placed an order with Digital Hawks over the weekend for a camera and did not receive a confirming email. When I called them today, Monday, they told me they were just going to give me a call to say that they did not have the one I wanted and offered the same one in a different color. Then they wanted to sell me a memory card - I did not need a memory card, and I felt they were a little too insistent on it. Well, that is when I looked deeper and found your blog. I was able to call my credit card company and cancel the card in time. I then called DH to cancel the order and got a very flip, "oh sure - no problem", answer. I will never buy anything from these guys again. I do not know whether I would have received anything from them, but the whole operation is very unprofessional. Buyer Beware!
I just got off the phone with these guys. I'll echo what everyone here is saying. I placed an order with them yesterday as they had the cheapest price on the camera I was looking for. I didn't recieve a confirmation email, so I started to get suspicious. This morning they sent me an email saying there was a problem with my order and to give them a call. It was very unprofessional, no capitalization or punctuation, no name or order number, and it was a gmail address. I called them and waited on hold for quite a while before I finally got someone on the line. Evidently the "problem" with my order was that the battery that comes with the camera has a short life span, so I should buy another one with it. I said no, I'm giving it as a gift and I don't care about the battery. The guy got frustrated with this and then said they didn't have the color that I ordered so they were just going to send me whatever they had. I said that didn't work for me. He basically said, "Fine, we'll cancel your order!" and hung up on me. Now I'm wondering if they are going to try and charge me or if they really are going to cancel the order. Pay the extra $30 elsewhere folks, these guys are just scamming people to buy overpriced accessories with their orders.
Many of these experiences sound so much like mine. I was worried enough that I cancelled my credit card because I didn't even want them having my info.
I wish I had read this blog first too but now that it shows up on searches maybe it will save others from placing an order from Digital Hawks.
Anyone reading this blog and you are considering ordering from them because of their lower prices...do NOT waste your time. Find a dealer that you know is reputable.
I wish that I would of come across this blog a few hours ago. Instead I came across another rating site- http://www.resellerratings.com/store/DigitalHawks that showed positive reviews and now I'm left thinking that it was far from being accurate!
I ordered the Canon SX10-IS from the company and became concerned that I did NOT receive a confirmation email immediately after.
After an email to the company and a follow-up phone call to cancel my order a few minutes after ordering (had a bad vibe), I am convinced of never doing business with them again.
I called for customer service to make sure that my order had been completely canceled and on the first call, I can hear two guys arguing and got hung up on. The second call, another man answered with no company greeting and he grumpily canceled my order.
All that I have to say is "unbelievable". Never have I dealt with such unprofessionalism! I completely agree with one of the earlier postings mentioning that people should just pay the extra $30 or difference. One thing for certain is that you will walk away with a better peace of mind.
Let me guess, Digital Hawks is based out of Crooklyn, New York?
I am sooo glad I came across this site. I was on Amazon this morning, and DigitalHa*ks is listed as a SPONSORED LINK, and they are selling the Canonsx10is for at least $30-40 cheaper than anyone else in Amazon. I, too, was concerned so I Googled reviews for them. I found one site that had very favorable ratings (but everyone that left feedback could not spell correctly). Then I came across this blog. Thanks for being here, peeps!!!
I wish I found this site before I did business with Digital Hawks. As previous individuals have stated, after placing your order they call back to confirm the order and then proceed to commit consumer fraud by giving inaccurate, false, and misleading information to bait you in to ordering accessories such as batteries and chargers at what they say is a special deal.
Unfortunately at first I agreed to by a high capacity battery and travel charger for the Olympus camera which is what I originally ordered due to the great price. After I was more awake following the phone call I immediately began research on the items and the misleading info given to me. It turns out, their great deal, Sale Price, on the battery and charger was 2 to 4 times the price of just about any local retailer. I found a real high capacity battery for $19.99 at Fry's and Digital Hawks claimed new they were $99 and their great sale price was $79. Rather than telling you how many pics the battery is good for, which is how the camera companies and most packaging is labeled, they said the stock battery would only last about 20 minutes where the high capacity would last 5 hours. Totally bogus info.
When I called the next morning to cancel the battery and charger I explained how they were committing consumer fraud and gave them specific examples. At this time he changed the pitch a little saying that over a short time the factory battery would decrease in working time down to 20 minutes from memory cycles during charging. Old nicad batteries have that problem, not the new lithium ion that most cameras come with including the one I purchased. They said they could not just change the order because it was already processed. After fighting with them, they said they could cancel the whole order but not change it. So of course I cancelled it.
My credit card did get charged. I called to confirm that a credit has been issued, the rude individual said the order was cancelled and that it would take 3 days for the credit to show up on my credit card account. Then he had the nerve to say don't try and order from them again because they will just cancel the order. Yeah, right, like anyone would ever do business with them again after an experience like this. I will see in 1 to 2 more days if the credit gets applied. I have already notified my card company and am having the account number changed for peace of mind.
For any one reading this, I have found 3 different names associated with this company. The web site is digitalhawks.com. At the bottom of there contact page it is EMS Wholesale Trading DBA Digitalhawks.com and the caller ID from the phone call I got from them confirming the order was Jay Trading Inc. Watch out for these SOB's.
Thank you for having this site and area for posting to let other good people know who and what to look out for.
Dave, all I can say is may god bless you and your site. The DH compnay was just about to take me for a ride but I found your site in time. I orderd a canon rebel es because of the great price. Thankfully my billing and shipping address did not match. They (a person with a middle east accent) called my home and copped an attitude with my wife about the order. I returned the call and the same guy answered and asked for my zip code. I gave it to him and he asked what I had ordered. I told him and he repeated something other than what I had said. He immediately got an attitude. I asked what he needed from me and he said the correct billing address. His attitude got worse and so did mine. He griped about my attitude and said he would cancel the order. I said great and he hung up. I called back and pressed 1 instead of 2 and the same guy picked up. WHAT IS ONLY ONE GUY RUNNING THIS PATHETIC COMPANY.... So, I said let me speak with someone else.... he said no! It proceeded to get worse. He was bad mouthing me and I asked if he did cancel the order and he stated he had. Who knows for sure... but I then found your site, proceeded to cancel my card and thankfully no charges were applied yet. What a joke this company is!!
Thank you for your posts. I had virtually the exact same experience. They have already processed my card. Has anyone actually received merchandise from them? Am I stuck at this point?
DO NOT ORDER FROM DIGITALHAWKS.COM!!!!
I just got completely ripped off. I had looked at a Yahoo shopping review and the overall rating was favorable, so I ordered. MISTAKE!!
I ordered a Canon PowerShot A1000 IS digital camera and a 4mb SD card. I ordered from DigitalHawks.com because the price was $30 less than Amazon(I paid $129).
The day after I placed my order this guy calls (caller ID says Jay Trading Co., return address on box says Simon Hawk, my credit card statement says EMS Trading). The guy tells me the SD card I bought for $14.99 will not work in the camera and I should buy the $39.99 card instead. I said I don't need the other card, as my daugher has the exact same camera with an ever lesser SD memory card and it works fine. I told the guy to cancel my order for the card completely. He said I couldn't do that and hung up on me. I called back and said "You didn't even say good bye, you just hung up on me!" and he said "I said I'd ship you the stuff...enjoy" CLICK.
I got a bad vibe about it, but my card was already charged for the items so I thought I'd wait and see what would happen.
I didn't get any email confirmation for my order, but I did get a tracking number from UPS. The camera and SD card arrived 16 days after I placed my order.
The camera was purple instead of the gray I had ordered. The SD card that comes standard with the camera was missing. Everything else was there. The batteries in the box had been used, as they went dead within 10 minutes after I put them in the camera. The packaging did NOT look like the items were new, although the camera was in good shape and seems to work fine.
I checked out the serial number of the camera on Canon.com to make sure the camera was not registered already, and the serial number has not been registered yet, so I still have the 1 year manufacturer's warranty, thankfullly.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY - one man operation and very dishonest!!
DO NOT BUY FROM DIGITAL HAWKS!!
They are extremely unprofessional! One you place your order, they call you claiming there is a problem with your order. Once the "problem" is fixed they try and sell you extras for the product you are buying. If you decline, their entire tone changes and they become extremely rude. My order was being processed and once I declined the extras, they were all of a sudden "out of stock". They answer the phone with a simple rude "Hello". I had to confirm with they that i had infact reached a business... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Wished I had seen this blog before I ordered from them. They listed a GPS unit for $10 cheaper than anyone else. They immediately charged my card, but sent no confirmation e-mail, and still haven't shipped the GPS. I'm now worried about my card and info. I've called them twice and the same person answered and said the item would be shipped the next day, and I'd receive a confirmation email. Still no item, and no email!
I placed an order for a camcorder, but they were unable to fulfill the order in the time needed. The order was cancelled and all was fine.
In the meantime, I placed another order for a 4GB SD card for my digital camera. The card arrived and the packaging was opened and taped shut. The item I received was also the wrong item.
When I called the customer service number to return the item, I was told (by a very rude individual) that I said I had a different camera when I placed the order, although this was never even discussed. I was also told how to use the card in my camera--after I said that I tried it and it didn't work, as if I didn't know what I was doing. There was no apology, the gentleman I spoke to acted as if he knew the card I received was already opened, and I felt I was blamed for receiving the wrong card. (I later reviewed the website and there is no mention that the card I ordered would be an "open item.")
I requested to return the item and did so that same day. I also asked to receive an email with confirmation of our conversation, and I never received the email. The package arrived in NY on 8/22 but it was never claimed at the post office and my money was never refunded.
It is not worth the hassel...
This is an update on my previous experience which I posted on September 13th.
The digital camera I got is BROKEN. I thought it was just the batteries, but now I found out it's the camera!! After 10 minutes of use, no matter what new batteries I put in, the camera says "change batteries" and the screen goes black and the camera shuts down.
Digital Hawks' website indicates that the camera is covered under a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, but no warranty card was included in the box. I called Canon and they said I could just include my receipt instead, thankfully. I'm shipping the camera to the Canon factory service center tomorrow and hopefully it will be fixed.
What a waste of money and time!
STAY AWAY FROM DIGITAL HAWKS.COM!!!!
OMG!!! DITTO, DITTO! I can't believe this company is not being investigated. Thank God I purchased with AMEX and I was never officially charged due to a suspicious charge alert. I called to cancel my order and the RUDE receptionist tells me it's no need to cancel because my card was declined. I proceeded to let him know that it was declined due to a fraud alert for a suspicious charge by his company. He goes on to state, "we do more than $100k a month in sales, noway we fraudulent." I'm like yeah, you sell, but don't produce of course there's nothing but profit.
Moral of the story is that Digital Hawks kept trying to process the payment and I had to cancel my card and get a new account number. I was also instructed to alert the credit bureaus since you have to give up personal information .i.e, name and address to order. I hope and pray we will not become victims of fraud.
STAY AWAY FROM DIGITAL HAWKS!
Wow! It's amazing this company is still operating like this and people like us who saw favorable ratings and want the best price end up dealing with them. We bought a camera on Sept. 6 and received a confirmation but got "the call" the next day telling us we needed to buy a battery for $80.00 because the Panasonic factory batteries would be better for the camera. My husband went ahead and ordered it and we were told that we'd receive the camera in 5-7 days from NY. Well we sent an email on Tuesday 9/15 and after no response, I called today to ask for tracking information and spoke to someone who said it had been shipped a few days ago and we should receive an email with a tracking number today. I checked Google and found your site with these comments so I told my husband. He called and was given a tracking number. I checked UPS and it was invalid, not the right format. They had given a fake number to humor us. We called back and he said the tracking number would be provided in 45 minutes. We said no just cancel and he just said OK and hung up. I sent a cancellation confirmation email and since our credit card had been charged, we called our credit card company, who will be removing the charges and sending a complaint form. We should do something to stop these lying idiots! Especially with all these complaints! Thank you for sharing the information.
Don't buy from Digitalhawk.com.
I just finished waiting four weeks for a G10. When I called, They tried to upsell me more accessories and a G11. When I siad no, they told me they were out of stock on the G10. I asked why it took four weeks to tell me, they said they tried both my phone numbers and email address several times and I never responded. I don't believe them one second.
When I said this is all BS and they tried to bully me. From my experience, it is a bait and switch site.
I just submitted an order without looking into the website about two hours ago and then came across this blog. I'm so glad that I did because I immediately received the e-mail and knew that there wasn't something right about it. I ordered a Canon Rebel XSi from the company and immediately called my mom to call the card company and make sure that money isn't taken out. Hopefully money stays the same because it's later into the weekend. I had gotten so excited for the camera, and then realized that there just wasn't something right about the whole situation. I haven't gotten through to the company by phone yet, but I did send an e-mail. The order says that it's already been cancelled, but I can not know if that's the truth or not! I'm crossing my fingers that things don't get messed up in the next two days!
P.S. Has anyone thought of suing the company at all?
I wish I had seen your blog before dealing with this "company." Based on my dealings with them over the past month, I believe it's a one-man show with a fancy phone system that makes them sound like a legitimate business.
I ordered the Olympus SP-590UZ when I saw it advertised on Digital Hawks for $299 - $30 less than anywhere else. I placed my order on the phone and paid $15 for 3-day shipping. I got an email confirmation the same day, & a phone call saying that it would ship the next business day (Mon). I said that was fine, then he told me the batteries that come with the camera are no good as I’d only get 10 minutes of use for them. He asked me if I knew that I could not use AA batteries in the camera. I questioned that, as I knew the camera DOES take AA batteries. We finally cleared that up when he tried to sell me rechargeable batteries. I told him I already had 2 chargers and batteries. On Tue. I emailed them asking for a tracking number, since none was indicated with my confirmation. I received the following reply (this is verbatim, including spelling and lack of punctuation) "this order was shipped out yesterday you will have it thursday or friday liek we have informed you over the phone thank you" That was when I first became apprehensive, as the reply was so unprofessional. I finally received the camera on Friday – a week after I ordered it, despite the fact I had paid for 3-day shipping. The box it came in was cheap-looking, but I got the camera. I had some concern as to whether it was really an Olympus or a knock-off, because of the company's unprofessionalism and the cheap-looking box. But so far the camera has been fine.
Okay, stage 2 - I discovered that there was no warranty card and the adapter for the micro-SD card that was supposed to be sent with the camera had not been included either. So I called the company back. The “customer service" person I talked to was the “salesman” I spoke to when I ordered, & the same person who called me to tell me when it would ship. Now I'm really thinking this is a one-man show. Anyway, he said he would send out the warranty card.
After 2 weeks, I still hadn’t received the warranty card or adapter, so I called them back. Again, I got the same “customer service” person I had spoken to 3 times previously. I told him I hadn’t received either the adapter or the warranty card. Now he tells me that there is no warranty card, that my warranty is my invoice. Big discussion about that, because nowhere on the invoice does it say it’s under any kind of warranty. As for the card adapter, he said it had been sent. I told him I did not receive it. He put me on hold for about 10 minutes, then came back on the line and questioned me as to why I needed it. I said because I can’t use a micro-SD card without it. He asked if I had a micro-SD card, and I said no, because I don’t have the adapter! Then he went off on a tirade about how much money he’s lost on my order - $10 on the camera, $10 on the shipping, the cost to ship the micro adapter (which I never received) and NOW I expect him to send me another adapter? And why don’t I buy a micro-SD card from him, because now he’s losing even MORE money. Multiple times he told me to just send the camera back. Unbelievable! He was arguing with me, kept cutting me off every time I tried to speak, insulted me, did everything short of curse me. I asked him what his name was. He said, “Allen. The supervisor.” I said, “You’re the supervisor?” He said, “Yes, you can’t get any higher than me.” OMG! At this point I told him that I would be posting a negative review and he went off on another tirade & said that if I did that, he would not be shipping me the adapter.
So, I will probably not get the adapter, and quite possibly the camera is not under warranty. At this point, I don’t care – I just hope that someone investigates this so-called business and sets them straight.
PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS VENDOR!!!!!
I've been had too. It's too bad I didn't see this blog before! Thanks a lot for this blog entry, by the way, it has helped me a lot in my claim to my bank and they're crediting my account as I write this. I hope our bad experiences can help others not go through the same things.
I too ordered a camera from Digital Hawks. Thanks to my brilliance, I saw the price and without thinking processed my order not even checking the vendor's reputation. I got "the email" rather than "the call" because I forgot we disconnected the line I used as a number. So when I called them, I pressed "2" for "customer service" and I spoke to the same guy everyone's complained about so far asking me if my billing address was the same as my shipping address. I said yes, so he goes on to tell me about the camera I had bought and how the battery will only last 20 minutes if I didn't buy the $89.99 two-hour or the $149.99 5-hour battery. Long story short, I know only video camera batteries are measured by hourly duration, so what he was claiming was just ridiculous. Humoring him, I said, "I just wanted to get the camera and if I like it, I'll buy the battery from you later." He made it apparent that the camera was non-returnable so I knew immediately something was up. Having all of my information, I tried to play along with him more so as not to arouse anger in him and get myself screwed over. He also said the battery was an "order now" type of special and if I waited the price would be $250, but I told him no, I didn't want it. The line went dead.
At first, I thought my cell phone had gotten disconnected, but from the other comments here I realize now he hung up on me. I called back and again pressed "2" and it rang and it sounded like someone picked up, but there was silence. Again, thinking it was my phone, I called back again... same thing. I waited a few minutes and then called but this time pressed "1" at the prompt and when I got an answer, it was the same guy from customer service. Big surprise, I figured at this point it was a one-man operation.
Well, from there he said my order was confirmed and it would arrive on Monday or Tuesday. It was Wednesday and I hadn't received it yet. I researched Digital Hawks and found this blog. To my disgust, I read every nightmare comment here and immediately called my bank to report it and see what to do from here. They cancelled my card, even though the charge had already posted, and advised me I needed to cancel my order so they could credit my account for this and handle it from there. So I called them and lo and behold there was different man who answered the phone! He sounded like I had woken him up, though. I asked him if my item had shipped yet and asked him for a UPS tracking number. Knowing the same old song and dance everyone else got where he'll email it to me later today and it'll probably be bogus, I told him I needed the camera today. That's why I ordered it 2nd day shipping. He apologized - he's much more pleasant than the other guy - and said he would cancel my order. I made sure I got a cancellation number (probably made up) before I hung up, and I also got an email, the same as my Customer Receipt/Purchase Confirmation I had received when I was billed for it. No cancellation number was listed on the Customer Refund Notification, so who knows if it actually would have been refunded, but Chase assured me that it was in their hands now, and I'll have the money in 1-2 days and my new card in 2-3 days. I'll be okay, I'm sure, but...
PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS VENDOR!!!!!
I've been searching for a Casio EX-H10BK, on the Internet,
at a reasonable price. On my way home from a tutoring session I decided to order it from Digital Hawks, for the very reason everyone else used them: the value (read 'price'). I stumbled upon your blog just before placing the order....thank you, thank you, thank you! The old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true.....it probably is!" is soooooooo true!.
I hope bastards get what's comin' to 'em!
Needless to say --- the order was NEVER placed!
I was going to order a Canon Rebel xsi from this website becasue it WAS cheaper than anyone else. Thankfully I researched the website and came across this blog. I guess I will stick with newegg.com. I have had alot of success with them in the past. Thanks for posting this blog.
I do not have to tell everyone my story, I would just be echoing everyone above. Since this just happened I am still furious.
I'm the author of the Oct. 20th post. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with their charge cards after they've ordered from this company. I had a fraudulent charge of $2,500 to my account yesterday for, of all things, a camera! I hate to accuse without facts, but this was just too weird.
Cinjoy: You have fraudulent charges of $2,500 on your credit card for a camera you never ordered. What additional facts do you need? You need to call your credit card company and cancel right away!
For the rest of you - Why aren't you also posting your feedbacks on 'Reseller Ratings' website? Several other consumer websites are recommending to people that if the Reseller Ratings website has positive feedback, then it's OK to order from the seller. All of the feed backs in this blog need to be on 'Reseller Ratings' as well. It looks like Digital Hawks are posting their own postive feed backs on that website currently.
Please save many of your fellow citizen a lot of pain by also posting on 'Reseller Ratings'.
Also, thank you very much for this blog...you saved me money and not to mention the embarrassment! Keep up the good work.
I'm the one who posted last on September 15th about my broken camera. I did get Cannon to fix it, thankfully, but I'm stuck with an ugly purple camera that is a constant reminder of how I was ripped off.
As far as Reseller Ratings, I did post a comment on their website. I was the first to post a negative comment. I tried to post a link to this blog, but an administrator caught my entry and told me I wasn't able to provide links with my reviews, so I just encouraged people to do more research before buying from DH. Thanks to Dave for having this blog, a Google search will now bring up these enlightening posts.
I do agree with you ("Anonymous" on November 3rd) that Digital Hawks posts their own positive ratigs- if you notice the times of the postings, there are often several in a row from the eastern time zone that are placed within minutes of each other. Plus, Digital Hawks is supposed to be a NEW seller, not a REseller...according to them. What liars.
Thanks again to Dave for providing this blog so we can warn others and also vent our frustrations!
Thanks for this blog. I just saw a lucrative deal for canon T1i and got suspicious. Sure enough I saw your blog and made a lot of sense.
I have had the very samne experience noted by others. I was told there was a "glitch" in my order; when I called they wanted to sell me additional equipment which I did not want; then I was told the camera would be backordered 4 or 5 weeks. When I cancelled the order the "salesperson" was incredibly rude. These people should be investigated by the NY District Attorney's office for fraudulent practice.Based on other comments on this blog(thank you) I immmediately cancelled my credit card. As usual BUYER BEWARE.
Let's write these reviews on RESELLERRATINGS.COM!!! I was fortunate enough to escape this catastrophe because I had an odd feeling and decided to do some Googling..but the feedback was not easy to find!! How does resellerratings.com reflect 4+ stars for this seller when CLEARLY there is an issue of legitimacy!! www.resellerratings.com ....let's do this people!!!
I do not have an invoice number since I was able to avoid this problem....but for those of you who do...let's prevent others from getting scammed too!!
I'm a VICTIM too! Placed the order. Called to confirm the order. The man did not even answer phone representing the company, he just said "Hello". He tried to upsell me a battery for $195. I said no then he told me the video camera was on backorder and it would take 5-6 weeks. I told him that this was not stated on their website and he gave me a lame excuse about it not being updated. Now I know he was trying to scam me. I called back to speak to customer service and the same guy answered the phone.
I did some research and found this blog (thank god) and called back again and the same guy answered and I cancelled my order. I immediately called my bank and told them everything and they are keeping an eye on my account. Then I went to TigerDirect.com and ordered my video camera. Within 15 minutes the money was taken out of my account and I got a tracking number. It shipped about 8 hours later and will be here in 3-5 days.
Do yourself a favor and DUMP this company... or whatever kind of ma & pa scam operation they are trying to run.
Unbelievable. I got a call tonight from someone at digitalhawks telling me that I had a conversation with one of their salesmen about buying a battery. I advised this was not true, I had only purchased a camera online that was $20 cheaper than amazons price. He then told me that the battery only lasts 20 minutes and that I should buy another battery. I said I was not interested. He told me "fine, then you will get your camera in 12 days and not a day sooner!" I called back to talk to a manager as was told none was on hand. Needless to say I cancelled my order which has not been charged to my charge card and I will contest it if it is. This company is not professional and I would say BUYER BEWARE!!
BEWARE THE DIGITALHAWKS! I had exactly the same problem with digitalhawks as described by others. The guy calls you, says there is a problem with your address, then says the battery and SD card that come with the camera are insufficient, and sells you a $20 battery for $60, and a $20 SD card for $60. The battery is a chinese non-name brand, and the SD card is a never heard of chinese cheapo. So the camera is moderately cheaper, but they get you back on the battery and memory scam. BEWARE THE DIGITALHAWKS!
Oh, wow, thank you SO MUCH for this blog. I had the DigitalHawks site open, ready to click "add to cart" for the camera I wanted... and then I thought, wait, I've never heard of Digital Hawks before, I'd better make sure they have a solid reputation before I actually buy from them. And then I found this post.
When I closed down the open Digital Hawks window on my browser, I had a sensation of having just barely escaped this whole hideous tar-pit.
thank you to Dave and to everyone who has posted their experiences here.
I ordered a canon sd880is from Digitalhawks on a saturday.the first sign of trouble was that i never received a confirmation email. i've completed over 100 online transactions and with each one there is usually a confirmation email immediately sent out. I called customer service on the following Monday to confirm the order. The guy who answered the phone tried to sell me an extra battery stating that the battery that came with the camera would only last 20 minutes. this seemed very fishy to me. I told him that i would only be using the camera to take pictures and not video and that i didn't want to order the extra battery. that is when the representative got rude and upset asking me all type of unnecessary questions. I immediately asked the representative to cancel my order and to give me a confirmation number. He did so and then hung up on me. I then called my credit card company and placed a freeze on my account. Do not do business with Digitalhawks
Same thing here. Ordered a Canon Powershot several days ago, then they called to "verify the address." In the process, they aggressively tried to charge for a $79 battery, claiming only a starter battery was included. At this point warning flags went off, and found this site.
Long story short, just canceled the credit card, recommend that you do the same if you order from them.
Has anyone submitted this to BBB or a similar organization?
BROKEN RECORD! I wish I had seen this as well. As many have mentioned, I was skeptical, but the lower price of my camera and the fact that "digital hawks" was put on by Yahoo! made me think, "what's the harm?" I called to confirm it was in stock and made sure it was not a refurb unit, I was assured it was new and in stock. The next day I got a call on my cell, this guy was pulling the his popular "error with zip code" and "battery not good enough" routine, I kindly declined the battery stating that I didn't have extra money to spend and he had the audacity to ask me when I get paid. I asked when it would be shipped and he said 2-3 weeks. Today has been 2 weeks exactly and I called to track my order and the same guy told me it is now on back order and would be another 2-3 weeks. I checked my bank and so far no charges have been applied and then I find this blog. I will be cancelling Tomorrow and always going with my gut instincts from now on.
I ordered a Garmin GPS from these guys almost two weeks ago that was supposed to ship UPS ground. Still not delivered and after numerous phone calls and emails they say they can't give me a tracking number. Nor, could they tell me when the package was picked up. Not good. This is my second order with them and the first one delivered ok with no problems. However, this one has me worried. I'm going to give it another day or so, and if it doesn't show up on my doorstep I'm asking for a refund. Customer Service is bad if you want to know where your package is. They have two phones, one for new orders and one for "customer service." Same guy answers both. This is a one man band.
I too ordered cameras from this "company" and also received the same spiel about the battery, etc. I did receive the cameras and have already given them as gifts for Christmas. And yes, 'Simon' said they were new. Now I am worried that they won't even work. How stupid can a person get? I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hope that I got lucky but from reading all the reports, I am truly skeptical. Wish I had seen this a few months ago.
Thank you so much for this information! I ordered a Nikon d40 from them, got the infamous phone call, trying to push over priced extra batteries on me. I politely declined. I was told the camera was on backorder until 12/27. Which worked in my favor as I researched this place later and found this blog. I'm having my credit card replaced and I cancelled my order with them today which thankfully went smoothly as they hadn't charged my card yet.
This is all sounding very familiar...
Placed an order for a digital camera kit online. Was called a little while later to confirm billing confirmation. Was told the battery that came with the camera was a short-life battery that lasted about 20 minutes, and I could add a 2 or 4 hour battery to my order. When I asked questions as to this short-life, 20 minute battery I had never heard of, I was told this was standard in order to offer camera buyers flexibility of the type of battery they wanted. Went ahead with adding on a $40 battery though I felt uncertain about my decision. Researched after I hung up, the Canon site says the battery pack that comes with the camers is 500 shots at 50% flash usage. Called back to verify the model of battery pack that comes with the camera. Was accused of being argumentative for asking this, that was not worth discussing a $40 battery. Very defensive and rude "supervisor" ended up telling me the camera wasn't in stock, and he'd be cancelling my order. BUYER BEWARE - DO YOUR RESEARCH before dealing with this outfit, if you dare.
Will be calling my credit card company now.
Wow! I certainly dodged a bullet. I was two seconds away from purchasing a Canon from this rip-off artist. Something in my gut told me to check them out and I came across this blog. Thank you so much! I'm sorry you were all taken for a ride but truly appreciate you stopped it from happening to me!
I, too, didn't hear from Digital Hawks after I made a purchase for a (below market priced) Panasonic LX3. No email confirmation or anything. Prior to adding the item to my cart, I did some research and found resellerrattings.com had quite positive results -- I'm now very skeptical of them. I ended up canceling my credit card, so these scammers wouldn't be able to use it. Additionally, one should never trust a business that has a public domain email address that's spelled incorrectly (taken directly from the email link on their sketchy site): Digitalshawk@gmail.com
I ordered a Sony DSC-WX1 Cybershot Point & Shoot Digital Camera. I got a call from them asking to confirm my address. I thought this odd since I had to type it in to complete the order, I was concerned. I real scam is they tried to sell a battery to me by saying the the Sony OEM battery would only last 20 photos and I should buy their $70 battery. I talked to the Sony rep and they said what Digital Hawk was saying was incorrect. After I said no and the caller started to get rude, he said it suddenly was on back order and it would be 2 weeks. I think if you don't buy their overpriced upsale your order is on back order. I called on 12-9-09 I just canceled my order because they told me it was still on back order and would not be in till after the first of the year, if you look on their site they have in-stock and for sale. I suggest buying from the manufacture or Amazon. I am going to go with Amazon, I have never had a problem with them.
Like a broken record...I was talked into buying an additional battery for a digital camera, 2 weeks later no camera. I have called numerous times...they actually gave me a bogus UPS tracking number. I have left several emails, and worst of all, my credit card has already been charged. I'm going to have to dispute the charge with my credit card company now.
Thank god I found this post, I just couldn't get myself to buy from the site because I judge so much how websites look and that one looks really "shady" the prices they have set looks too good to be true and reading from some of responses I guess I'm right...
They have lied to me three times- with all the taxes that New Yorkers pay how come the attorney general has not gotten involved. In Texas they have a tough consumer division and we pay way less tax.
It does no good to post here - this needs to be turned over to the AG and get some publicity.
Just want to say that SteveNTexas is absolutely right about contacting the Attorney General's office. Even if you don't live in NY, you can Google the New York Attorney General and find the online complaint forms. It's well worth the time, considering the number of people who are having problems with this company. And by the way, all of your experiences warned us away from a "great deal" on a camera. We'll go back to looking locally.
Gee the NY Atty General link is easy to fill out short and sweet and of course free.
Digital hawks has a different excuse every day
but I still havent received my camera

...broken record.
Although I consider myself a seasoned and savvy internet shopper, I was fooled by this company's presence on Amazon's page.
Long story short - ordered camera, received the upsell phone call, declined upsell, no confirmation email, no tracking number, rude employees, cancelled the order, four consecutive days attempting to get my order cancellation confirmed, escalated to my credit card company for resolution.
Beware of this company.
I have filed a complaint with the NY AG (see previous posts).
I would love this company to be visited by some enforcers and made to feel some pain.
THEY CONNED ME TOO.
I ordered a Canon D3000 the day after Christmas. I did not get any email confirmation but a rep called me and convinced me it was a good idea to upgrade to a package deal. I agreed and they took full payment out of my bank immediately. When I didn't receive the order I called and they claimed UPS delivered it to the wrong address so they would ship it again. When it arrived only part of the order was there and they had billed me for insurance I had not agreed to. I called them again and they agreed to refund the insurance and to make up for the inconvenience they had caused they would ship out the rest of my order and some additional items. Last week when they still had not arrived I called and they were sure my order would be delivered no later than Friday....guess what....still no memory cards, still no battery, still no carry case and so on and so on. I called again today and they said it's only been 2 weeks since the order was placed and that's not bad and that they are not refunding the insurance. I pointed out that I paid for this order 4 weeks ago and still had not received it. I also told them I was placing a fraud alert with my bank and that I had done some research today and that there are hundreds of other customers with the exact same stories... I asked how to return the camera but they say I cannot.. THEY WERE VERY NASTY,RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. STAY AWAY...

BEWARE!!!!!OF THIS COMPANY
Here is my story-it is like so many here!
January 2 of 2010 - I ordered, by the internet, a TomTom Go 930GPS from DigitalHawks with a three day shipping. I received no confirmation of my order so I contacted the company
January 4 - the agent confirmed my order. I added to my order a screen protector, a 2gig high speed card and a hard case for a total including the TomTom of $314 as quoted by the agent. I received no invoice by e-mail or mail.
January 7 - I contacted the company to get a tracking number and invoice. During the conversation the agent was very rude and interrupted every time I tried to explain that I wish to find out about the tracking number, delivery date, and the invoice of my order. I was told by the agent that they did not have a tracking number yet but I would receive my order on January 8.
January 8 - $334.96 was taken out of my account.
January 11 - I contacted the company, asked who I was speaking to and the agent would not give his name. I asked to speak to the supervisor and the agent left the phone for a period of time. The same person came back on the line and stated he was the supervisor, Simon, at ex 203. I informed Mr. Simon that I had not received my order and my card had been charged. According to their contract, your card is not charged till the item is shipped. Mr. Simon informed me that they had expected a shipment to come in on January 7 but it had not arrived. My order would arrive the following Wednesday January 13. I asked for an invoice and a tracking number. Mr. Simon was continually rude and cut me off in the conversation. I informed Mr. Simon I was leaving for Finland on this day and that is why I had done the three day shipping. Mr. Simon stated he would e-mail the invoice.
January 11 - received the invoice with a total charged of $334.96 which was more than the agent quoted me ($314) I called Mr. Simon back and informed him I was canceling my order. Mr. Simon asked why. I stated you have charged my card but the order has not been shipped, I was quoted a price of $314 not $334.96 and every time I called I received different information. I just did not trust their word. I sent an e-mail to the company confirm this conversion. That same day my husband and I began a 5-day trip back to Finland.
January 18 - I had not received my refund for the charge to my card. I asked to speak with Simon but he was not available. I informed the agent about the canceling of my order and requested my refund. He placed me on hold and came back and informed me that it takes time for a refund and I would have it in 72 hours. I confirmed with the agent that I would see my refund on Thursday 21 of January and he said, “Yes.” I sent an e-mail to the company confirm this conversion.
January 26 - I have received no refund or product. Each time I have called the agents are rude and cut off my conversation. I have canceled my debit card and requested a new card.
After doing some research on the internet for the company, I found no listing of officers for this company. The company has a five star rating on their website.
I have written a complaint to NY Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. I have canceled my card and given all the information for this company to be investigated.
gloryflower
Well I thought I just had the bad luck. I ordered a camera in December, I actually recieved a tracking number and it came in a timely fashion.........But we decided to do an exchange, BIG MISTAKE!!!!They recieved our exchange on December 22nd. Since then it has been a complete run around. They have given me every story under the sun, (too much to type) So I had to put in a claim with my credit card. I will figure out where to report them.. HOw do they keep getting away with this is the real question....I also threatened them I would be contacting my creidt card, Better Business Bureau and anyone else I could about this. THEY DONT CARE!!!!
Wish I had seen this before I got scammed. Changed my original order to a bunch of other undesired stuff then didn't even ship half of it. Charged me a 20% restocking fee on all of it, including stuff that didn't arrive.
Somebody needs to take these guys down.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you guys for your comments, we should expose this company so they don't rip off other people.
I have been calling this company since Monday and the recording says, "Sorry we are currently closed, our normal business hours are Mon-Thurs 10:15am-8:30pm, Frid 10:15am-4:00pm, Sun 11:00am-7:00pm. Saturdays were are closed. The message may not be recorded for mailbox 213, goodbye. When I make these calls it's during the times that they are supposed to be open. I mean seriously. Since I had ordered online, I just called my bank to cancel my debit card and get a new one. Thank God they had not taken the $709.99 for the Canon HF S100. I am buying one from Amzaon.
oh no! I ordered from them last week and I am now seeing what bad reviews they have! I didnt get a confirmation email. When I tried to call so I could cancel my order and be safe, they did not answer and said they were closed even though the website said they were open!! I emailed them too, and havent gotten a response in a week! Im so scared! I ordered a 300 dollar camera and I hope I can get my money back!
I found a website that shows the address that they are using as belonging to another company. I will google and post it so everyone can see these people for who they are. I will personally make sure they don't steal people's hard earned moeny.
Why don't you call your bank or credit company like I did. Don't do stop payment because my bank told me that even if you do a stop payment, if they could use a different name they can not guarantee that it will be stopped. To be safe, they suggest that you cancel your card and order a new one.
I also bank with Wells Fargo and they set up a free account for online order for me. It is free and I never keep money in it except when I am paying for something online. I only transfer the exact amount that I need for the transaction so if anyone ever hacks into it they will not be able to get any money out of me.
Believe me these people are very clever. They might not charge your account right now, but they are patient and will at a later time. Most people don't pay attention to their account so the end up losing money.
Go to this link and see what other people are saying. They use other names, e.g. EMS Wholesale Trading DBA or Jay Trading Inc.

These are just a few of the ones I copied and pasted. The internet is full of these. If you just google "Digital Hawks scam", "Digital Hawks review", "Digital Hawks ripoff". Need I keep going.
I ordered an SLR Camera from these guys too. Few days later I had a call and they told me that there is a back order on this camera and it will take 3 weeks for them to receive this model. It was the first week of december. So I asked the representative if I will get this before new year and he said yes. So 3 weeks past but no news from Digitalhawks.com. I called them and the same person that I talked before said that they are expecting the inventory in 2 weeks and he apologized. So I said fine since I was not in rush getting a camera anymore. I told them I am expecting call from them as soon as they have this model.
Surprisingly few days later I talked with the DigitalHawks representative I got a call from the Fraud department of the Credit Card company and they told me that there are some charges on my card that raised the red flag in their system.
Since then I keep calling them from the number they have on their website but of course I can not reach anyone and voice mail keeps saying that "we are currently closed". I finally find this blog and wanted to share my experience with you all.
Beware and do not do business with these people.
SCAM ALERT...
I too have been dealing, or should I say trying to deal with this company.
I ordered a camera on Feb. 5th, got the sales call to try to sell me more stuff, declined, was told I would received an email when my camera is going to ship, and I have heard nothing since. No email, no more calls, no charge to my card. Of course I have been sending email and trying to call them, but get the same message that they are closed, and this is during their normal business hours. I was going to ask how some of you were able to actually speak to someone? Maybe they realized all the complaints or the feds showed up.
My credit card company said to keep track of all your attempts and send them a email saying you want this order cancelled. This way if it show up on my account I can disput the charges and send all my documentation showing I tried to get a hold of them.
I too have been taken by these people. I placed an order on February 1 for a Canon EOS Rebel XS, and of course was charge that day. I emailed Digital Hawks on February 10, 11, and 12, but of course no response. I then called them on February 11 and 12 and the message was we are closed and gave the hours they were open. I did find out if you dial the 1-800-219-8044 and when you get the recording dial 206 you do reach Allen. I called my credit card company and explained the situation and apparently my credit card company contacted these frauds, because I received a call from them on February 18 stating that UPS had just returned the camera. UPS supposedly delivered it to the wrong address. RIGHT, I was born at night, but not last night.
I told them I wanted my money back. They were going to charge me $150.00 restocking fee. For a product I never received! I called my credit card company and had my card cancelled. I was afraid they would try and charge something else to it. Supposedly Allen is going to make sure the camera will be delivered to me no later than Thursday and I am suppose to get a $50.00 credit. I will not be holding my breath on either case. I will let you know if I do receive it and what condition it was in.
I did contact the Better Business Bureau. I suggest everyone else do the same.
I purchased a camera from these people and got talked into a bunch of accessories---it was a gift for my son. He received the wrong camera---loose in a shipping box---and no accessories. The camera was returned and I received an e-mail from Digitalhawks saying they had refunded my credit card less a 20% restocking fee ater making many, many calls to them!!! They even charged the restocking fee on the items they did not ever send! My credit card did not ever have the refund posted and I finally gave up after 3 months, and filed a complaint for fraud with my credit card company---they reduced my account by the nearly $900 charged by Digitalhawks and said they would charge back Digitalhawks. These people are truly scam artisits---DO NOT do business with them!!!
Same story , different consumer.
Okay, it's the same story. In Nov I attempted to order and paid for a SILVER Canon Rebel XsI . I don't think the charge went through. I called first to make sure it was in stock and was told yes, we have it. So I charged it to my Credit card. Then I got a call saying I needed a different memory card . When I said I had one already, I was told it was OUT of stock and would be backordered. I wrote two of the same letter..one to Digitalhawks.com and one to Digitalshawk.com. Then I called and was told that if I asked one question about the order it would be canceled. The man said "do you want the camera or not." I said yes, but how long will it be backordered for? He told me January 1st . It was Nov. 26. So I called the first week in January and there was NO answer or response to my email. So foolishly I reordered. I never received an email confirmation. I called and called and finally got a nicer guy on the phone named Ricky. He said the camera was backordered until Feb. 23. I confirmed that it had to be a NEW camera and it had to be silver. I've been calling since Feb. 23 and have never gotten through again. I just sent them a note telling them to CANCEL my order. I wish I had found your site sooner. I am going to write the NY Attorney general now. THANKS for your site.

Bad Bad Bad. I bought a camera. It came. It broke. 2 emails unanswered. 1 phone call with no answer. 1 phone call with a busy signal. Luckily I called the mfr and they will stand behind their warranty. I'll never buy from Digital Hawks again. Beware!

California
My 11 year old daughter bought a camera with her birthday money. It came broken. They said to send it back, which I did. Now they do not answer the phone. No refund, no camera and my daughter is out $150. DO NOT do business with these thieves!!
You are correct about Digitalhawks. I ordered a digital camera from them for about $400 in November, and it never arrived. Their policy was to bill you when the camera is shipped and I have not been billed. If I see the camera billed on my credit card report, I will take further action.
When the camera did not arrive after quite a few weeks, I called and was told it was not in stock and they were waiting for it to be shipped to them. It was listed as in stock on their website, but I was told that you still needed to call to verify that the item was in stock before ordering. In checking the website's fine print, it did say that just because something is listed as in stock on their website does not mean the item is actually in stock. Very strange.
Anyway, every few weeks I would call and be told they were still waiting for the camera to be shipped from Sony. Then the phone number stopped working and they would not respond to emails. I contacted the New York Better Business Bureau and said I want the camera or I want to be guaranteed that my credit card will not be billed. After going back and forth with the BBB, the BBB said they could not resolve the problem. They gave me a list of further steps I could take. I will take those steps if my credit card is ever billed for a camera I never received.
I filed a complaint with the NY Atty General and they mailed me more paperwork to fill out. Will keep you updated on the out come of that. Here is the link again for others:

The bottom line is-My bank helped the most-they gave me back my money-a new credit card and I left it in they hands to go after those Digital hawk people!
DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!
The NY Attorney General sucks - its just an office to use to run for Governor. Perhaps if enough people complain to them they might help
NY Attorney General did try to find these people but the website was taken down and the office in NY was closed.
They might come back under a new name so check out the site before buying anything that looks good and cheap!!!!
Be a smart buyer!
