iTunes 9.0.0.70: A Huge Upgrade; Snow Leopard, Not So Much

This month Apple released Snow Leopard as well as a free iTunes update.  I bought Snow Leopard and quickly inserted the disc.  It installed flawlessly.  Once it was up and running I was amazed that….nothing had changed.  No new applications, no new fun stuff, nothing. It’s my wife’s iMac and she still doesn’t know I installed a new O/S.

iTunes, however, is a different story.  Prior to this update, you could share libraries between computers on your home network, but only listen to the songs and other media.  You could not transfer it to your computer or iPhone.  That all changed with this update.  You can now not only transfer songs, you can transfer movies, television shows, podcasts, and even iPhone applications.  My daughter’s netbook (with no cd/dvd drive) can now quickly and easily add all the music and applications that are on our other machines simply by dragging and dropping.  This is a HUGE advance for iTunes.
