AMDV.com: Trustworthy?

AMDV.com, also known as American Digital & Video, is now showing up on Google Adwords.  They list their address as 80-30 209th Street, Queens Village, N.Y. 11427.  A google search reveals that this address is owned by Sharona Benshabat.

Interestingly, a search of AMDV on the State of New York’s website reveals the following:

AMDV.COM LLC

337 EAST 89TH STREET

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, 11236

Check out the photo of this address here.

This is the same address for Broadway Digital, which settled with the State of New York in June (READ THE ARTICLE HERE) and agreed to “completely revamp their business practices and be subject to ongoing monitoring,” in addition to paying  “substantial monies to provide restitution for consumers who were subjected to the companies’ illegal business practices.”   Other names used by Broadway Photo: Broadway Photo LLC, A&M Photo World LLC, Camera Addict LLC, Camera Kings, Digital Liquidators LLC, Millennium Camera LLC, Preferred Photo LLC, Prestige Camera LLC, Qwest Camera LLC, Regal Camera LLC, Top Choice Digital Enterprise LLC, Top Choice Digital World Inc., Wild Digital LLC, BROADWAYPHOTO.COM, BWAYPHOTO.COM, BROADWAYPHOTO.NET, BROADWAYPHOTOVIDEO.COM, AMPHOTOWORLD.COM,CAMERAADDICT.COM, CAMERAKINGS.COM, DIGITALLIQUIDATORS.COM, PREFEREDPHOTO.COM, PREFERREDPHOTO.COM, PREFFEREDPHOTO.COM, PRESTIGECAMERA.COM, QUEST4CAMERAS.COM, REGALCAMERA.COM, TOPCHOICEDIGITAL.COM, and WILDDIGITAL.COM.

AMDV does not provide prices in their Adwords Sponsored Links.  Once you click their link, their website has the Nikon D700, without a lens, for $2,299 with free shipping.  Cameta, a legitimate retailer, sells it for $2,519.  Adorama has it listed for $2,696.95.  I’d be very, very surprised if AMDV actually sells the camera for the price advertised on their website.  I could be wrong, so please post your experiences with them in the comments section below.  If in fact Broadway Photo is continuing to conduct bait and switch techniques, I’ll start a campaign with both the State of New York AG’s office as well as Google Adwords.  The days of letting the Brooklyn bait and switchers freely conduct consumer fraud are over.  If you’ve had problems with AMDV, I encourage you to seek reimbursement through the State of New York’s AG’s office.  They’d be interested to hear about their activities as well.  If you’ve had a good experience with AMDV, please post it below.  Perhaps these guys turned over a new leaf.  We’ll see.

Hey John I've also been in the market for a canon 7d and came across AMDV who is currently offering the 7d for $1,459.00 (body only) and I'm curious to see how your experience played out. Was the camera shipped as advertised at the displayed price? Oh, and did it include the basic accessories (battery, cables, charger etc.) that should come with a body only camera?
Thanks

Just bought a Nikon D5000 kit from them. Lowest price I could find, free shipping, no taxes, got it in 3 days with no surprises. Kit was complete and well packaged.

He did try to sell me overpriced batteries and memory cards when I ordered, though. He told me the stock battery was low end (wrong) and that the camera required special "zero error" memory (also BS). I just said no thanks.

the canon eos 7d is now listed by AMDV at $1510. I'm really curious as to the legitimacy of this company...I could order overnight shipping for $50 and it's still nearly $100 cheaper than anyone else is selling this camera.

Thoughts and/or first-hand experiences?

Order the sony a330 2 lens kit for $588 (a great price) From Camerakings.com which is apparently the same company as amdv - just another website. Placed order over phone and the rep said it was in stock. A week later, still hadn't received a confirmation email or email that it had been shipped (although my credit card had already been charged). The customer svc. rep said that the camera was on back order and did not know how long. I cancelled order because I didn't want to wait + I was annoyed that they told me it was IN STOCk when it wasn't. So in the meantime, I missed out on a great promotion at Target. It's been two weeks now and they still haven't credit my credit card. Not happy with this company.

I have also found the best deal on a camera there, and have been looking into the company. I wrote them an email entitled "convince me to buy from you" and in 2 hours recieved:

"The company has completely changed ownership about 4 months ago. We do not operate in the same ways the previous company did. Unfortunately once the damage is done it is very difficult to reverse. Thank you for giving us the benefit of the doubt."

I'm going to suggest they change their name and web design.

Purchased a Nikon coolpix p90 from Digital Megastore (apparently another alias they use, the websites function the same etc.) Their website stated it was in stock and would ship in 72 hours. After a week, I still did not have a tracking # so I called them. They said it was in stock and would ship that afternoon. 3 days later I finally had a tracking number. So an item they claimed to have in stock and shipped in 72 hours did not even get shipped for 2 weeks. I received it 3 weeks later and what a piece of garbage. It definitely looked like a grey market p.o.s and after trying it out, the picture quality was horrible. Not in focus at all. I have a 4MP olympus that is 5 years old and takes better pictures.
When I called to return the item, Digital Megastore told me to send it to AMDV with an address of 1722 E. 28th st. Brooklyn NY 11229. Getting very suspicious I looked up the address which belongs to a run-down looking residence which does not even have any signage in front or anything remotely resembling a business being run from a house. When I try to call AMDV, all I ever get is a busy signal. Disputed this charge on my Card ASAP. I believe both these businesses are still scam operations. If you go to resellerratings.com you will find tons of complaints against digitalmegastore.com. Buyer beware!!

Hey, Ashok here. Nikon D90 with sorry no image really caught my sight with the price. Its 765.00 which i found lowest in the whole market.
i called them, a guy told me that price is competitive because they are the wholeseller.
I am not sure about it, because for the same item price has been changed over weeks. I have been with their website regularly and they keep change the price for the same items. Like Nikon S640 was for 198.00 once and after some weeks it came to 238.00 or so.
So, things are confusing.
If anybody have bought DSLR (specially D90 Nikon) please post your experience.

Did anyone have any GOOD experience with this company?
I see that there is no negative posts lately does that mean that the company might be doing something right?
I see that on ReselelrRating they have a few bad reviews but quite a few good ones.
Please post your experience,.

My purchase was a Sony Camcorder HDR-FX7 for $1,809.00. I was talked into buying an over priced battery which I really didn't want. Shipping was suppose to have been free, but I had to pay the insurance. There was no mention in the add that I had to pay for that. Total price I paid was: $1,959.99. What was mentioned in the add just below the price was, and I quote, "RECEIVE A FREE CARRYING CASE WITH THIS ITEM. A $300 VALUE!!". The Case was the reason I bought the camcorder from them. I never received the Camcorder Case. I have called and e-mailed them about the case, but I didn't hear from them. Note: I went to there web site to check the add again and it reads the same only the price is lower. I will never buy from them again. They false advertise.

3/3/2010 I called amdv about the $300. case and they said the free camcorder bag I received was valued at $300. On their web site they have removed the statement: "RECEIVE A FREE CARRYING CASE WITH THIS ITEM A $300. VALUE!". amdv is sending me an insurance extension on camcorder for confusion.

A few years ago I bought an Olympus SP550UZ from CameraKings, I believe. As has been mentioned, they called within 30 seconds it seemed to offer many MANY options, some of which I bought, some of those I actually needed. Since so many companies are the same, I'm now leery about buying the new Olympus SP800UZ, lowest price right now of $299 with the Kings. I'll pay a little more and visit a reputable company. BTW, for those who aren't familiar with this new Olympus (just came out last month), it takes 720p HD videos, has an amazing 30X optical zoom (my "old" one only has 18x), and 2 Gb of onboard memory.

I'm glad you posted this, because I was about to purchase from them. Now, however, I am not, because I don't wave thousands of dollars around foolishly. The $$ discount is truely not worth the $$$$ of being cheated!

I been thinking of a $1300 canon 7d from amdv.com. It is very good $$$. or is it too good to be true?
Any comments would be helpful. Am I taking the risk of being ripoff by these people??? Thanks in advance.

I actually just got my Canon 7D, body only for $1285 plus $77 insurance and handling (free whipping) for a total of $1362. It came within a week as advertised. No problems there. HOWEVER...I happened to find out that they never paid for the insurance and coincidentally two weeks after the transaction, the same card number I used was duplicated and charged all over the surrounding neighborhood.
