DailyDealDigital (Daily Deal Digital): Sketchy?

Numerous posts on resellerratings state that Daily Deal Digital is no longer accepting major credit cards, and that they are requesting WIRE TRANSFER (!!!).  This is not a good sign.  Here’s the message that is purportedly being sent to customers:

Dear Valued Customer We regret to inform you that although the item you ordered is available, our system is unable to bill it through any major credit card network. We are awaiting word from the Visa/MC and Amex networks to see how long we await a resolution to this issue. Please feel free to respond with what type of action you would like to take at this point, we do have several different payment options and would love to retain your business but do understand if you wish to void this order. You may reply to this email with the steps you would like to take at this point and once again we do apologize for any inconvenience

Per a domain search, their URL was created on June 26, 2009.  It’s anonymously registered.  The corporation is registered in Florida as AMB Daily Deals, Inc.  They were incorporated on July 27, 2009.

They have a positive review from Bruce Thomason, senior editor of cwreviews.  I have no idea who this is or what cwreviews is.

The reviews on resellerratings are a respectable 7.29/10.  However, I would take that with a grain of salt, since EVERY SINGLE TESTIMONIAL ON THEIR WEBSITE HAS BEEN FAKED.  Below are just a sampling of their fake testimonials, all of which have been lifted from Batteryspace.com, including one from resellerratings that was written back in 2003.

I ordered a new camera with a price that was to good to be true from DailyDealDigital. I received the dreaded email that I needed to call a toll free number to confirm my order. I called the number. I learned that what this really was about was DailyDealDigital wanted to overcharge me for a lense, filter, battery, etc. I told him I just wanted the camera body. He said "enjoy it" and hung up. One month later, despite my calls and emails, I have received no response. It is clear they will only ship if they can screw you on another purchase.

I also order new camera body at DailyDealDigital. I haven't received any email (confirmation, receipt). They overcharge $200. I called them, they don't pick my call.
Then, it spent for 2weeks, even I haven't got camera! anyone has any idea to get back my money?

Same thing happened to me. They hung up on me. The guy sounded like he was in his home and even got a package all the while ignoring me. When I started getting mad, he hung up on me and wouldnt answer my calls. The best way to get your money is to file a dispute directly to your credit card company.

I order a camcorder and they tried to get me to change and add more charges to my order of which I refused. They over charged me $800 and send me the wrong camcorder after months of back and fourth. I am working on a suit anyone want to join please contact me at mkaroki@hotmail.com

I also ordered a camera, they called me and I did order some extras. My credit card was billed and then never received the merchandize. Called them numerous times (talked with Bernard) and got numerous stories. He could not give me my UPS tracking number. Finally called the credit card company to resolve. How can they still be in business?

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!!

1.) It is a lie, the cameras do not include any of the manufacture incvluded goods (batteries, chargers)

2.) All those different extentions/Customer care, Sales departments...They all lead to just the ONE GUY....there are no other people that work for this company.

3.) It is a lie that they will send it without further purchases from you...you need to also agree to purchase a batt charger/lens/battery...

4.) I looked up the physical address the site is using..There is no such company operating from there.

5.) at some point, when he realizes you are not going to pay more, you will no longer be able to get in contact with him.

CRAP not me too!
I also ordered a camera... I first called to ensure they would be able to immediately send it out without any further checks or delays...Got the email to call them, after 3 days & never getting more than an answer machine with no-one returning my calls I finally got through. Was told the credit dept. "needed to call me back, just wait by the phone for the next hour" waited by the phone, never called. Called again, "Oh definately before 5pm"...Never called. Eventually I got hold of 'the guy' who tried to make me buy a battery & when I said no thanks he hung up on me.
Numerous emails, answer machine messages, i have not heard back. Camera never arrived. So far I have not been charged, & I noticed that the site has priced up all it's items in the week since I ordered.

I order camera EOS package 3 it should come with canon lense but they gave me Sigma lense instead. They charge for battery and memory card over $170. If you order by amazon you should pay only $49. I keeping contact them and asking about detail they never answer the e-mail. This company cheat on you. PLS NOT BUY OR ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. IF YOU DO YOU WILL REGREAT WITH THIS COMPANY...I HATE DAILY DEAL DIGITAL COMPANY. I'LL NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN.

Ordered 8/24. Called 9/1. Was told that the order shipped, and to "sit tight". I sat tight until 9/7. Got an e-mail stating that the order was cancelled. Never shipped! I called and they said they would refund my $639.00. Still waiting. Sure wish I'd have done some research prior to buying.

So, I'm guessing then that their t2i for $469 is too good to be true...

This review and posts are very helpful. I was gonna purchase a D7000 - when I saw the add it was on a real cheap deal - I knew it was too good to be true. Thank you! Sorry for what had happened to your orders.

Ordered a camera after calling first to make sure it was in stock. Next day it was out of stock at the price I ordered it for but I was in luck, I could get $20 worth of accessories for only $90 more. They could not ship even three weeks later. They claimed the new camera was backordered. The distributor for Canon USA had plenty on hand for the rollout. Rip off. Do not order from them.

Yeah, these guys are sketchy. My friend tried to order a 50mm f/1.8 ef lens from them, which they had priced at $80 with free shipping (about $10 or $15 lower than anywhere else). They called him, and he did not want any filters or anything with it. They said they would ship it to him. At the very end of the conversation the guy mentions that the total would be $98 dollars; when my friend protested, he said that he should have seen the extra fee in the fine print when he checked. My friend canceled the order rather than fill it.

At the same time, I tried to order the T2i body only, which they had for the impossible price of $469...or $235 less than Amazon. I called beforehand to confirm they were willing to ship the body only if I didn't need anything else. The guy said they would and to place my order (which he seemed to want me to do online). I used a virtual card number through my provider. They called and emailed after I placed the order (in which i did not see any fine print). By the way, the receipt email that I got says nothing about the actual price of the item or even what the item is. It just gives me an order number.

They weren't pushy about buying extra stuff because I clearly knew I didn't need it. They said it would be out in 10 days...which by the end of the conversation somehow changed to 10 to 14 days. He never said anything about the total price. After I hung up, I got an email that said my "order had been processed." I emailed an asked for a detailed invoice. I called back a couple of days later when they hadn't responded. The guy said they would be shipping in a couple of days. I asked again about the invoice, and he said, "I'll get right to work on that." It's been two weeks, and I haven't heard a word. I simply closed the virtual account number, which should keep them from using it, as the card was never charged. I guess their target market is simply people who are lured in by the low price and don't know how much accessories should cost (though they don't even list the right accessories on their sight. I think all of their memory cards were compact flash, for example).

Anyway, they must just sit there and lie to people every day. I can't imagine what a fulfilling job that must be...

Not only does Daily Deal have sketchy business practices, they sell GREY MARKET products. I ordered a camera for them which promptly began having problems. When I sent it out to get repaired, it was sent back immediately with the note "NON- US PRODUCT" stamped on it. When I called the repair center, they said it was a grey market product and was not made in the US. Thus it was not subject to any warranties. We're suing in small claims court if we don't get our money in the next ten days.

Here is a story from the Netherlands:
ordered a camera at DDD , they called back to upgrade my order with some cheap extra's and to change the lenses for some other lenses.
After payment they never answered any email, only got an answering machine end they never called back.

At last he creditcard company ordered the money back. I seems like no creditcard will do business with them anymore

This guy is scum. Don't buy there, you will loose all your money!

I don't know myself but someone at ResellerReviews asserts that this is a pseudonym/alter ego of Grand Central Photo which is also panned here at Dave's.

The modus operandi is the same. It is such a pity that it is so hard to sue and jail criminals like this.
