AJ Richard (www.ajrichard.com) shows up on Nextag as a trusted seller. Read the reviews...you'll see that they are actually for a site called ibuydigital, which has mixed reviews at best.
The resellerratings reviews for AJ Richard are not good: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/AjRichard

OK.
I gave Ajrichard a fair opportunity to correct a problem. I returned the "new" Nikon D7000 according to their instructions and in 5 days I received back the EXACT SAME opened box of parts. The cables and manual has obviously been used and who knows about the camera body other than for sure it had been removed from factory packing. this is in addition to their practice of falsely advertising free shipping then calling you and attempting to sell you overpriced auxiliaries, then adding on $60 of "handling and insurance" charges to their "free shipping".
This company is dishonest. If you buy anything from Ajrichard its BUYER BEWARE. There are plenty of honest suppliers out there so it is ridicules that anyone would deal with Ajrichard.
These guys are complete rip offs. they gigged me on a Nikon D700. Never saw a real invoice until it was way to late. Oh you can return your Package but with a nice 15% restocking fee. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY. They are professional manipulators.

Thank you for posting this. I canceled my order with AJ Richard after having the same issues. Hidden fees and nothing but hassle from the sales persons. It seems to be a one man show since the same person answers the phone every time. I threatened to call authorities if my card was charged and they immediately canceled my order since it had not been shipped yet. The number I used to call was 1-888-871-1256. DO NOT buy from this company. I requested a cancellation confirmation via e-mail from them and did not receive that either. I will be watching my card to make sure it isn't charged. They are definitely fraudulent!
AJRichard.com is a total scam. Against my better judgement I purchased a Sony video camera knowing the price stated was too good to be true. Two days after my purchase I received a "verification call" from a salesman who attempted to hard-sell me various accessories. When I didn't bite at that he told me my purchase would be $69 dollars higher than what the transaction receipt showed on the website after the order was placed. When I asked what the extra charge was for I was told, "That's a 6% charge for shipping insurance." When I told him that wasn't the total the website showed and I had taken a screenshot of every page of the transaction as proof, he immediately hung up on me and that's the last I heard about my order. Since they weren't able to rip me for the extra money they obviously had no intention of delivering what they promised. By the way, the "verification call" they made came up as an "unavailable number" in my phone records, so they obviously don't want any type of proof these calls are being made. I recommend everyone stay as far away from this company as possible.
Horrible does not begin to describe my experience. A short run down of our transaction so far.
1. My wife ordered a camera on Wednesday. On Friday she recieved a call to confirm the order. At that time she was confronted with pushy upsales for various accessories. (strike 1) Then they told her there would be an additional $20 "handling and insurance" fee added to the order. The website listed a 2.99 shipping fee, and said nothing about this extra $20, which actually made them more expensive then other sites. (strike 2)
The order was not actually shipped until the following Wednesday. Why it took a week to put a camera in a box and ship is beyond me. (strike 3).
a week later, the camera arrives. My wife is sitting on our couch, and opens the box. She starts to play with it, and it doesn't work. Once the zoom is extended, it will not retract unless you remove the batteries. So we put it back in the box and ship it back the next day.
2 days after they receive the camera back, they call us. They tell us the camera has a scratch on the body near the lens, and we must have dropped it. The only place we could have dropped it was on the couch, and there was no scratch on it when we mailed it. They said they would send it to the manufacturer, but in there opinion we had damaged it and most likely the manufacturer would send us back the broken camera.
I ordered a camera from ajrichard online and got an email 2 days later asking me to call about my order. When I called, they tried to sell me additional items, which I refused. I emailed them after 15 days to inquire about my order- they emailed back that my order was cancelled, as requested! They're scammers!!

AJRichards.com sucks. DON'T Buy FROM THEM. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY.
I am going through a similar incident now. I bought a camcorder on their website and then they called the next day and states we are reviewing your order and just like the others tries to sell other items for more money and I tell him no. Then he tells me the price was jacked up with shipping and handling charges. I told them nope not going to pay that as their website already gave me a receipt and then the guy MARK in sales says order is canceled and hangs up. I immediately call back talk to him again with no satisfaction and call back to customer service, same as before. So I file formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I am going to let them handle the company formally. They need to stop this bait and switch scheme in the internet shopping community.

I tried to order A Nikon
D7000, from AJRichard and was pushed in to a package that I did not need, I called back to cancel the order and was treated very rudley, I was told it already shipped and it was only 2 hours after purchase, then a second person picked up phone, to say it had not shipped and a third person picked up phone saying it was on the truck and they would try and stop it, yet 4th person got on the phone and said it did not go out and they would cancel order, after being treated and talked to very rudely, as of yet they still have a hold on my funds, I have contacted my Bank, the police and the DA in New York, my suggestion is think before you trust any one from this company, what a shame that, they can do this to customers.I will let you know if they do the right thing. I hope they do!
I ordered a Canon HF-S21 for $835 which is a very good price; however, I cancelled my order because these guys are lying. Their website specifies “in stock” and the person that called me two days after my order said they are mailing the item “today” but he wanted me to buy additional items such as batteries and memory. One week after my order I checked order status online and noticed the item had not shipped, thus I called and was told the item is on back-order and it will take about two weeks. Don’t buy from this company they are dishonest!
I too, ordered a NIkon D7000 from AJRichard. The salesperson was pushy and aggressive, telling me I "needed" things that I really didn't. I tried to cancel the order and he said it was already shipped. I received a gray market camera cannot be registered and has no manufacturer's warranty. BUYER BEWARE!
i will also add that it's probably a good idea to stay away from nextag... how in the world can this company be a nextag trusted seller? it seems like there are no less than 10 companies cut from the same cloth on nextag all with the same stench.. probably literally the same company with different entities.. i've been looking very hard for a great deal on a new camera, and i'm exhausted wading through all the bullshit with these companies i'm finding on nextag... i always use pricegrabber when looking for lowest prices as they have reputable sellers and their reviews are honest & accurate from my experience... there are still crappy companies on there but you can tell the good from the bad whereas nextag itself seems like a scam
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I was literally 10 minutes from ordering, and was convinced by the nextag badge. I should have known it's just too good to be true. I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences so I didn't have to go through my own. Many thanks.
These comments appear to be right on. I pride myself on making great purchases and thought I found another. By chance, before I ordered this morning, I called ajrichard to verify if a flash card came with the camcorder. I didn't have a problem with the "No" answer, but the tone and what was NOT said. Professional operations will thank you for calling and state their name. I simply received a "Hello." After asking my question, I politely said"Thank You." He simply hung up on me without a word. In today's climate, you have to work hard to get the client. This gentleman didn't make me feel confident in who I was calling, so I went online and searched. I found several sites where complaints were plenty. Then you would have the over-the-top compliment, which tells me ajrichard himself typed the positive comment. I wouldn't risk $1000 on this site to save $150. Thanks for the comments.
Total Scam artist. Item in stock if you are purchasing, but if you avoid the Up-sell they will never ship it to you. SCAM ARTISTS AVOID AT ALL COST!
Call to make sure the item was in-stock before I purchased online. I got a up-sell phone call to confirm my order item still in-stock. I didn't need anything else they were selling. I call today to see why my order wasn't shipped, It on back order. I had a co-worker call 10 mins. later to see if the item was in stock. AJrichards sales, "Yes Item is in-stock it ships in 24hrs."
SCAM ARTIST AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys are rotten! Like many others before me I placed an order for three EOS 60Ds on 7 September. The next day a guy called me by phone for verification. He offers other items that I had not bought and my bill ends up $500 higher. He charges me a higher delivery charge than had been agreed. Fortunately my credit card had a balance due from another retailer and therefore did not have enough credit at the time. When they called me I suggested that maybe if my ordre reverted to the original items I wanted then there would be no problem. The guy then says I should just give him another credit card which I rejected. He referred me back to sales who refused to adjust my order. At this point I became suspicious and asked them to just cancel the order but oh no they wouldn't have it! He threatens me that I won't be able to buy from them again and I said Yes probably not. Thankfully my order was cancelled. On looking them up, lo I come up onto this page.
Thank you. Don't buy from these guys. It is not worth it.
Just ran into this same situation. Kicking myself for not seeing this post before ordering. Thankfully, I was able to stop my credit card from being charged.
Not only do they try to include tax and handling but they try to upsell everything. I tried to call back to cancel the order but of course... they don't answer their phone. BUYER BEWARE !
Just found the same product at Best Buy for less!
I have been taken by this company. They have charged two, yes two of my credit cards for a total of $868. I have tried several times to call them during their normal business hours and it always says to call back during their normal business hours. Iwas too stupid to google them until AFTER I had ordered from them. I guess I will have to start the long process with my bank to have this issue resolved and to cancel my cards but I am also going to be filing a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center thru the FBI. I suggest you all do the same. http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
The more that complain the sooner this outfit or person I should say can be put in custody. Each complaint can be considered one cound of Fraud. That could add up to a lot of time in jail, where they need to be.
anonymous says:
The only reason I have not place an order with this company is they are closed for the holiday. I would have never checked for the comments on ajRichards. Only a fool would dive in deep "waters" with even three comments like the ones posted. Always some truth to negative reports. Take 10% of each and hope there are only one in a hundred. These negatives far exceed that ratio and I would not even consider purchasing the three cameras I would have ordered prior to reading these reports. Thank you people for the input. You saved me over three thousand dollars and a shrink to deal with my mistake if I had ordered from these scam artist.
I have read all infos and experiences, and I am not buying from them.
They ask for various confirmations regarding the order to be able to sell over the phone overpriced accessories. They also seem not to have in stock the best bargain, so one may make several phone calls to check and each time they try to convince him to buy something extra at a very high price. Overall the deal may not be a deal and there is a risk of ending up with bad product, which then can be returned with a hefty restocking fee.
Not worthy to hassle. Go to Costco or to Amazon.
I should have checked this site firs as well... these guys are complete scam artist. I think their goods are stolen.
They changed the invoice on me midstream and refuse to refund my money when I returned the product.
Thank you all for taking the time to post these very valuable comments. You have saved me, I'm sure, much aggravation before I order anything from this company as I was going to tonight but thought I should investigate first.
My experience is like the others posted her. After purchasing I received an email saying I needed to call to correct a problem with my shipping address. When I called a salesman tried to sell me a package I did not need. I declined the package. Soon after I received a notice that my camera, a Nikon, would not be in stock for 2 weeks. No mention was made of this when the salesperson was pushing the extra package. This outfit is totally a scam. If you see good reviews for this company I'm betting they were written by company employees. Very frustrating eperience!
Wow...I wish I had come across this blog before even getting ivolved with this ridiculous scam company. I immediately called back to cancel my order and was told that it had already shipped (2 hours later after it was ordered!). I asked for my tracking number and was told it would only be available the next day. The next day I called back to get the tracking info and was transferred to the shipping dept (really just some other guy in the same office). He tells me it just missed the shipment and would be shipped tomorrow. At that point I told them I had already spoken with Visa and the better business bureau and that if my order wasn`t immediately cancelled that I would file a formal complaint. Finally he agrees to cancel order.
Waiting to see when they refund me...
Also for someone who doesn`t know too much about cameras the salesman was a total scammer. He pushed an enhanced battery, high speed error free memory card and a bunch of other likely fraudulent, malfunctioning junk I didn`t even need.
Dont even get me started on customer service, I was hung up on multiple times! And they are ridiculously rude.
AJ Richard is definitely a scam. THey are to be avoided at all cost. I`m going to bestbuy for my camera.
Disgruntled canadian
I made the mistake of ordering from AJrichard. Shortly after ordering, I received an e-mail confirming my order. I noticed that the shipping and billing addresses were mixed up. Thinking I had accidently entered the shipping address as the billing, and vice-versa, I called AJRichard to correct the mix-up. This is my first DSLR purchase, which was obvious to the customer service rep I spoke to. He convinced me that the SD card I have won't work in the camera, so I would need to buy a new one. I foolishly agreed to take advantage of their "promotion" on SD cards and a battery and paid way too much. Recognizing my error a short time later, I called to cancel the accessories. I was told that they had already billed my credit card, so they couldn't adjust the order. All they could do was cancel it, much to my relief, as everything started to feel very sketchy. In hindsight, I suspect that I entered the addresses correctly in my order, but that the mix-up gave them an excuse to call me and talk me into overpriced, unneccesary accessories. I'M SO RELIEVED THAT I MADE IT OUT OKAY--I confirmed that my credit card was refunded and got AJ Richard to send an e-mail confirming the purchase was cancelled and the money refunded. Based on the other posts, it could have ended a lot worse.
DO NOT USE AJ RICHARD.COM. They will try to take you for all you're worth. But if you do and get screwed over like I did, contact the New York State Better Business Bureau... http://www.newyork.bbb.org/consumers/
Click on the link on the lower left to file a complaint. AJrichard.com knows how to deal with complaints from credit card companies, but seem to be intimidated by the Better Business Bureau. I got a complete refund 2 months after the initial purchase date.
complete scam , i ordere an hx100v and they asked for a verification call and they tried to use every single thing to make me cancel the order and they finally used the excuse we cant use international credit cards
its clear
they are scumbag
Total SCAM artists! Found lowest price for a camera on nextag. Ordered camera. The next day I got a call where they tried to sell me some outrageously overpriced extras. I declined. Another email confirmed the item would be shipped right away. Today they sent and email that the camera was "backordered" and wouldn't be available for 14 days. Complete jerks. I called to complain. Order cancelled.
There seems to be a number of camera stores that operate on the same basis, they all share one idea, offering prices way below cost and then scamming you once they have your credit card number.
If it's too good to be true then it probably is not.
So I placed a order for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 (Lumix DMC-TZ20 / Lumix DMC-TZ22). The website price listed was $219.99 which is a great price... the ad also said the camera "usually ships in 1-2 business days", which lead me to believe the item was "in stock".
The following day, I received a voice message and a email from the company saying "Thank you for shopping at Ajrichard.com. We Value your business in order to verify some of your billing information please give us a call at your earliest convience 1-888-871-1256" I called them back and spoke to a sales person. They did not ask anything about my billing information, delivery, etc. It was clear to me that this was an attempt to up sell me on additional items. The salesman recommended everything from a second battery, carring case, extended warranty etc. When he was unsuccessful, he informed me that the color of the camera (Black) which I had ordered was "out of stock" and suggested the color Silver as that was in stock and would ship out. I agreed.
Over the next week I checked my online account with AJRichard and it showed the status as "Processing". I emailed the company asking for a status update. No response. After a week, I called the company as my online order was still indicating "Processing". The customer service agent, who was not very polite, informed me that the company does not carry any inventory! I couldn't believe that. He went on to say they had placed my order for the "Silver" Lumix DMC-ZS10 and that it would take another 15 to 20 days before they expected them to arrive. Special Order? I explained that my original order was for a "Black" DMC-ZS10 and that was really the color I preferred if it was being special ordered. He then told me, Black is not available! What? At this point, I could tell he would have liked me to cancel the order as he was short with me, didn't want to really answer any more questions and when I suggested they include this specific information within their website... he didn't respond, just hung-up. Needless to say, I believe this company is using this item as a loss leader with no intention on actually selling the camera at that price without the customer purchasing other (over priced) items.
After reading simular stories I decided to call and cancel my order. Which I have done.
Frustrated AJRichard Customer
Thanks for the feedback. I had the similar situation where they had a Sony camcorder for a good price.
After submit the order got a mail to contact customer service to verify billing. It's a non-sense. What they try to do is to get customers place an order and they talk to them to increase the price
by telling all sort of nonsense.
They told me that the model which you order is an international model. Which doesn't have a warranty in US. I asked then why you mentioned there is a 1 yr manufacturer warranty. He said it has one a warranty only when shipped to a non-us address. So he asked me to pay additional $90 to buy the "US Model" :)
I cancelled the order!
I HAVE SCOURED THE INTERNET LOOKING AT CAMERA OFFERS, AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL WEBSITES OPERATING IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED IN THE ABOVE COMMENTS. tHESE SITES ARE BUYHEREPHOTO.COM, AjRICHARD.COM AND SITES LISTED ON NEXTAG. tHESE SITES MAY BE OPERATED BY THE SAME GROUP, OR AT LEAST HAVE THE SAME METHOD OF OPERATION. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING FROM THEM!
Like everybody else i have had nothing but problems with AJ Richards. If i was closer to New York i would go over there myself and choke somebody. After spending $4000. dollars in video equipment i have gotten nothing but lies and shitty customer service.
I hope all online shopping is not as bad as thee guys, this was my first online experiance and it been nothing but hell.
I have lost work and pissed off my clients cause they have not come through with the products they have said hey will. Paid for express shipping (after i was told that shipping was free)it been over a month and im still missing stuff. Finnaly the package just arrived and after numerous call and inquirys and the item was not in it. I called again and now they tell me its not in stock!!!!!
I made sure and asked numerous times if the stuff was in stock and now ive been told that it is not and the order will be cancelled!!
DONT BUY FROM AJ RICHARDS
THIS IS A TERRIBLE COMPANY!!
I came to this site after a BAD and strange experience with Ajrichard. I wish I had read all these comments before. I posted a bad review on resellers but my comment is not appearing. Reading your reviews, I see I'm not alone, so I'm writing this for others who may read before actually contacting Ajrichard. Yesterday I tried to buy a Nikon D7000 from them, as they had the best price for the kit. Obviously, to get their upgraded warranty, you have to call and make the order on the phone. It's a catch - DON'T DO IT. I have read that salesmen in US are a lot more 'in your face' than in Britain, but in this case it is an understatement - the guy was plain aggressive. He wanted to sell me all other extensions I didn't need or want, as though for a good price, clearly overpriced and anyone who has researched the product knows the real price of things. All this with an attitude - I know best. I had to hang-up and call again, because of the pressure. When I called back and told him I only want the camera kit & warranty without anything else he processed the order indifferently, without gusto. Or rather never processed it, as I received an email from billing saying that they've had problems with my card, so I need to call them back. When I call the 'billing department' upon giving them the order number they immediately sent me back to the same guy I spoke to yesterday. Sales and billing departments all one person, a very interesting concept! He told me they couldn't process my order because the address is overseas, and coldly said speak to your bank. My bank account is opened in US with my address in US and was never linked to an international address. Called the bank, no such nonsense as international address. It's 21st century, you have different bank accounts when you move countries. Simple. Bottom line, I did not bite their sales tactics of buying other overpriced accessories (probably that's how they reach their sales margins) so they came up with this excuse (easy one as I have a foreign accent). I was forced to cancel the order and I am glad for it. If just trying to buy the product is so hard, I can only imagine how they will process problems or issues one may have with it in the future. Please do yourself a favour, go to a serious seller and AVOID this one. I'm not a reviewer, but it was worth opening an account if this will help someone in the future.
Bought a Nikon D7000 prior to me knowing about this blog - of course I was upsold with memory cards, etc., at triple what everyone was charging at a "confirm address" follow-up phone call by them. (Price ripoff discovered after the fact and after doing price comps). After hanging up had a strange feeling and awaited receipt of camera. Upon delivery found out the camera was not new, was a gray-market model, memory cards were not as originally shown, plus they charged me more then original invoice price for "ins and handling" without prior notification.
Calls (at 718-679-9937) and emails to them where useless as everyone here found out.
Called the Credit Card Dispute Department immediately and filed claim as "not as described." Camera was returned by me at address obtained by calling UPS, to LPL Trading in Brooklyn, NY with delivery confirmation requested. Note the original shipping label from them had no senders address listed (on purpose of course.)
Long story short, got a credit from the card company after providing exhaustive and detailed information supporting my position.
This outfit is a ripoff - do not do business with them and spread the word! Lesson learned by me here. First time this has happened to me and hopefully the last.
Will do a websearch (here) for any future purchases over the internet for similar items.
I had a similar experience with these guys this week. They had great prices, so I ordered. When I was contacted I wouldn't buy any of the products they offered. They tried the "the battery life is too short" pitch as well as the "charger it comes with is no good" pitch. I was told the camera would be sent in a day or two. Later I got an email saying it would be about 2 weeks before they would even send it- because of ordering issues. I canceled my order.
Great advertised prices but get your stuff somewhere else. You will be much happier!
Add me to the list of "I wish I had read this first"! I just cancelled my order and called my credit card co. to put a watch on this outfit! They tried the same crap with me and I called them on it. I will NEVER use Nextag! All the things about this company (whatever the hell their name is) detailed on these reviews herein are true! This company is a SCAM!!!!!!!!
