A new site showing up as a Google sponsored link is buyherephoto.com. Not a good sign that they have a 0/10 on resellerratings.com already. Link. No address listed on their site either.
Another really bad sign...the testimonials on their website are FAKE. The exact comments appear on versadeals.com, using different names.
If you've ordered from these guys, please provide the return address anonymously in the comments below and I'll forward it to the appropriate authorities.
Update: They are a complete scam operation. I'll be having them removed from Nextag shortly.

Help!! My daughter ordered and we found your info from getondigital.com and identical calls and switch on equipment happened to her. Tried to cancel on Thursday, sent email, Friday it was shipped. Same address 2277 McDonald was finally given as the return address in Brooklyn. High dollar purchase. my email is lovellrose@hotmail.com.
I was scammed! They sold me a lens costing $800 more than it should have, after talking me out of my original order. I did not attempt to return it after talking with them many times, to avoid further fraud. I considered it a loss! Lesson learned...
2277 mcdonald ave
brooklyn ny 11223-3902
Same thing happened to me!!
I had a horrible experience with Buyherephoto. The customer service representative sold me a vastly inferior set of lenses for a much higher price than it should have been. I was led to believe the lenses were Canon lenses and they were inferior brand. When I tried to return them I was told I had to pay a $350 restocking fee. They offered me $2000 to keep the lenses when I threatened to fight the charges. I declined and finally got a refund. Please help warn others of this fraudulent company and of the rude and obnoxious salesman, Peter.
They did a "bait & switch" on me to a product that didn't exist! They claimed to be selling a "PE" version of a Sigma lens that Sigma confirmed for me that they did not make!
So far, I am more fortunate than others that have added comments. I tried to order a camera twice, and each time, they tried very hard to get me to add accessories, especially a battery, that were advertised to already be included with the camera. When you do not do what they want or suggest, they are all rude.
I ordered a camera and lenses yesterday. Today I was called to verify my credit card with the secure code. I got suspicious and did not give them my number and tried to cancel my order. The very unfriendly guy told me I have to pay a cancelation fee of 7%. When I declined he got very rude and said that they don't want customers like me and he will cancel my order without a fee...
After reading the reviews, I saw that they had a Nikon D3s on sale for $3,900. The ad stated on the headline that the D3s had a "USA Warranty." In the specifications, a "1 year manufacturers warranty" was listed. The standard Nikon USA warranty is 1 year. Seems legit so far, right?
The next day, I get a call to confirm (I was actually expecting this). The person on the other end attempted to talk me into buying the D700, stating that they had been getting, "a lot of returns" on the D3s. I replied that I was not concerned because the camera had Nikon's 1 year USA warranty. That's when the bells started to clang.
"Well, sir, our cameras come with either a manufacturers or company warranty. Why did you decide on the import warranty?"
I immediately asked him to cancel the order, and after a thirty second pause, he informed me that the order was cancelled.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! As others have written, their scheme is upcharging your original order when you call back as requested in their confirmation e-mail. My order of a "special package" at a great price arrived yesterday. Seller "Pete" had talked me into the "special package" that was going to save me hundreds. All I originally wanted was a Canon EOS 60D body, but was told that my online order was not for the U.S. model. Does it state that on their website. No. So, he kept adding and adding items (U.S. model of the body, extra 5-hour battery pack, 2 4GB high speed memory cards, a rolling aluminum hard case, screen protectors, a 5-year protection plan, plus free 3-day UPS shipping). My credit card was charged $1,698. Going back to their website today I added up all of the items at the stated "regular" price and it came to $1,718.97. Some bargain I received, right? A call to Supervisor of Sales Brad Jennings to request a return authorization ended with a demand for a 13 percent restocking fee, plus no credit for the "non-refundable" protection plan. Mr. Jennings, by the way, insisted that he has no superior at this company when I requested to talk to his boss. Right. They could have gained a customer and a high rating by merely being honest and ethical. When I indicated that my next call was going to be the New York attorney general's office, he said "go ahead." OK. Game on. This company has not yet heard the last from me. DO NOT BUY FROM BUYHEREPHOTO.COM.
In my search to upgrade my camera I have found Digital Hunter and ByHerePhoto. Both "companies" offer great pricing on photographic equipment. One would think they are wholesalers. Now I have to go back to the review blog at Digital Hunter and warn the readers that there is another bogus online photographic company to beware of. We need to keep researching and listing all these bogus sites in an effort to protect eachother and hopefully have their web sites shut down by the State Attorney Generals.
Google a review on every photgraphic site offering merchandise for sale before you buy.
Thanks for sharing.
Art Wannabe, photographer
Hmmm... sounds like 'Digital Hunter' has a new name perhaps?? (Among others?) Same guys in my mind.
Thanks for your service/info to all shutterbugs Dave, much appreciated! You helped my hubby not get ripped off.
Knowledge is power, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, and caveat emptor, folks... words to live by!!
Cheers and happy shooting all.
I also was scammed in a bait and switch sale for lens, Was talked into a higher price lens than the lens i originally ordered, for what was represented as a"wholesale" price. This was a complete misrepresentation; representative Mike also promised me free shipping and, while they did not charge me for shipping, they tacked on $52 shipping insurance to cover their insuring the product (something that they never told me about and i never authorized). I am insisting on getting my money back and reporting them for fraud,
I am glad I read these reviews first before buying...Thank you guys so much! :)
was looking at prices from both VersaDeals and BuyHerePhoto....... thought things looked a little FISHEY! I shall stay AWAY! So glad I came across these reviews! Maybe I will just stick to ordering Canon product from CANON!
I'm so glad i googled them, thinking it had to be a scam. One thing that does hurt these people. Credit card chargebacks. If they cherge ypu ANY money to return a misrepresented item, contest the charge with your credit card company. They have to prove they are right and they pay more for cc service with chargebacks.
DONT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. FIRST THEY ADVERTISE THE CANON 5D MARK ii for approx: $1450 dollars...but what they dont tell you that it is the PLASTIC OVERSEAS BRAND!!!!! NO WHERE ON THE SITE DOES IT TELL YOU THIS!!! I CALLED TO SEE WHY MY CAMERA HAD NOT BEEN SHIPPED AND THAT IS WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE OVERSEAS PLASTIC BODY VERSION!!
SO I ASKED TO CANCEL THE ORDER AND AFTER A FEW TIMES THE SALESPERSON TRIED TO TALK ME INTO THE """REAL"" CANON 5D at the $2100 price - FINALLY HE RUDELY SAID MY ORDER WAS CANCELLED - WHEN I ASKED FOR A EMAIL CONFIRMATION ON THE CANCELLATION HE SAID "WHAT AM I GOING TO SEND YOU A PERSONAL EMAIL??"" I SAID SEND ME A EMAIL CONFIRMATION THAT MY ORDER HAD BEEN CANCELLED AND HE AGAIN, RUDELY TOLD ME IT WAS CANCELLED AND THEY DONT SEND OUT CONFIRMATION EMAILS!!!!! IM WAITING TO SEE IF MY ACCOUNT IS CHARGED BECAUSE I DONT BELIEVE THEM
DONT BUY FROM HERE - DONT BUY FROM HERE
THEY ARE RUDE AND THE WEBSITE GIVES LITTLE TO NO INFO ON WHAT YOU ARE REALLY BUYING - DONT BUY FROM HERE
Add me to the list of complaints. Today I ordered a Nikon SB600 flash for $199 with free shipping. I thought that was a good price for a company that actually said they had one in stock when I called their toll free number. I placed the order online. A couple hours later I get a call from a blocked number. I was surprised to find it was from a salesperson regarding my order. They needed the security code on the AMEX card I used. No big deal because I had provided my phone number during the order and wondered why they didn't ask for the security code when placing the order. Here is where they scam started. He asked me what camera I was going to use the flash with. I told him a Nikon D90. He said that flash was designed for a 35 mm film camera and didn't have a digital chip. He suggested I go with a Vivitar flash with a "digital chip." I told him he didn't know what he was talking about because Nikon designed the SB600 to work with the DX formatted cameras and introduced it with the D70 (I believe). He backpedaled and said it would work but still didn't have a "digital chip" in it. I said no thanks. I then tried to call back and cancel my order but was told it was after hours and they hung up on me. I called and canceled my AMEX card since they hadn't yet tried to charge it. Buyers BEWARE! Thanks for this site.
I almost got scammed the same way. They said the batch of Canon lenses that I was going to buy came in defective, but they would let me have a $999 Sigma lens (both 18-200) for no additional cost. My lens was $499. They gave me a product code (403A) and told me to input it onto their site, and sure enough, they were selling this behind the scenes for $999. Problem was B&H was selling it for $399. Bait and switch? You betcha. Punch in code 396A and you will see that they are selling a $1000 lens for $5999, a prop for another scam. Note: once I get the contact name at Canon, I am going to let them know that they are defaming their product in a Sigma bait and switch and ask them to stop wholesaling to them. I will post the number on this site in a day or two. Let's put there cheaters out of business. Oh, and I will also post all of their secret codes, so you can see what they are doing. What jerks. mswett@pacific.net
I sincerely thank all of you for your posts. You saved me from being another victim of their scam operation.
Thanks for comments Guys !! I was about to buy a Canon 7d under camera packages. Now after reading all your reviews I will just buy it some where else (even if its expensive)
UPDATE: No more than 5 mins after leaving this review i get a call from them on a Restricted number stating that since i left a negative review(on this site) i am subjected to a 75$ cancellation fee. This is by far the worst company i have ever done business with.
Found a cheap 28-135mm lens i wanted. Spoke with Nicolas, and gave me the whole run-around and pitched a completely different lens. He used all the sales tactics in making you trust him. "i have that lens on my camera", "there are only two left", :its a F2.8 and you can find one for less than 1000$" After talking to him for 20 mins i ended up purchasing 28-70mm sigma PE for $369. He said the PE on the box stands for 'Professional Edition'. i called Sigma and all that means is the box is recyclable. and its only a 150$ lens at most. Cancelled my order and will never ever ever do business with them. I would give them 0 stars if i could.
If you are considering doing business with them.... DONT...
pay the extra $10 or $20 and go somewhere else.
Why allways New York?
What's up with this city that crooks have a free pass to operate scam without any problems?
In other states the FEDs would be at their door in a minute?
And in NY that does not happen?
I don't get it...
For me NY is the crook capital of the world...
I got late for reading your comments, and bought one. They have charged anything yet; however I am afraid of being charged tomorrow. I donot know whar to do, just waiting being a victim by them... Is there any way to survive from them?
Thank You all for Informing us of your tragic tales and the things you has been thru and sharing it with us to save us the pain. I have had similar probs with a company just like this one (prob was this one and they switched their name) seems they have to change the name every few years in order to get more new suckers. I will now and always shop legit sites.. it will cost me few dollars more but that warm fuzzy feeling you get of buyer protection is worth it I think
WARNING - HORRIBLE - LOTS of problems. Purchased a Nikon D5100 package online. They offered best price by $100. After punching in info and confirming my purchase, it gives me a webpage. "Order confirmed, #xxxxx". That was it. No receipt of my purchase, no way for me to have a record of how much I paid, and precisely what I ordered. An email arrived minutes later, with same info, only that order is confirmed with number. I sent email requesting that receipt, no response to that email. Next day I got an email from them that said "contact us, we need more information." I contact them, after waiting on hold for 30 mins, get a person. They said they needed CVV number (why was it not on website when I ordered?). Then they tried to upsell me on a battery, saying it wasn't included in the package. And they wanted to charge $149 for a battery. I said I need to research that. They said "call back when you know, order is on hold" and hung up on me. The operator was quite rude and impatient during the call. I do my research, learn I can get same battery for $40 elsewhere. So I call back ... another 30 min hold, they forward me to the person ... voice mail. Only good thing is it mentioned extension number, so I was able to bypass hold next time. I left a voice mail, but 4 hours later after no response, I called again, using the extension. Spoke to what seems like same rude person. I told him I didn't want the battery. Then I asked again for the receipt for my purchase per my email. His response … “We get too much email, we don’t read it.” HUH? And also only THEN did he say, "you do know camera is not in stock, 6 to 8 weeks delivery." NO I DID NOT KNOW THAT! Website said 24 hr delivery, and I even paid for expedited delivery to get it before Christmas (which was 3 weeks away, but standard shipping was 4 weeks so I did not want to take a chance.) I said that is not acceptable. So in his rude voice, he says, "Your order is cancelled. Good Bye." And hung up again. I'll of course be monitoring my credit card and if purchase shows up, putting a STOP on it immediately. One of my worst experiences ever with an online reseller. Very disappointed that there really good price was too good to be true ($579, for what I can only get for $849 or more at other websites). But glad the order is cancelled and I don’t have to deal with them again.
I wish that I had checked this site before ordering. Nothing but pure bait and switch. If you are thinking of ordering anything from them, DON'T! Anything on the website is indeed too good to be true. If you take the chance plan on at least 30minutes listening to 'on hold' music, getting several upgrade pitches, and the general run around. I really wish that I hadn't trusted the website with my credit card number.
From what I can see they sucker us in with wonderful and unheard of prices.
As for bait and switch I would say that you just have to stick to your guns and continue to demand the product you REALLY want and not let them talk you into other stuff or upsell you. They tried to do it to me too and the guy was noticeably upset when I said all I'm interested in was the Nikon SB900. Of course it was conveniently out of stock.
These guys also have really miserable customer service. Bring sandwiches when you make the call. The waiting time is incredibly long.
Thanks to everyone for being vigilant and posting about these guys!!
All I can say is buyer beware of these retards. Ordered a Nikon D5100 body only for $409.00. After calling these clowns back the next day I am told the item is foreign not U.S. and there is no charger or battery with the camera or anything else for that matter. There is nothing mentioned in their description of the product at all regarding any of this. No wonder the price is so low. They are basically running a bait and switch operation at this place or false advertisement. If it says it come with a 1 year USA warranty I would have suspected that it was for sale in the USA and comes with anything a normal Nikon Body only would come with.
Their customer service is also rude and has an attitude. Then they try to tell me that this is what I ordered when nothing about no battery charger or battery is mentioned in the online description of the product. I think that 99.9% of the 5 star reviews for this place are written by their own employees. I also think that Nextag needs to drop these people in their price comparisons. They are using false advertising to begin with. I hope somebody can get these people off of Nextag. You can contact me at dlmvegas@yahoo.com
We are our own worst enemy. When you see a Canon or Nikon product selling for 30% below everybody else's price you pretty much know there is a problem. These sites sell grey market product and they are very misleading. They count on consumer greed to get the customers in the door and their slik sales practices keep you there. Buy from only authorized dealers and you will save a lot of grief. To find out who is an authorized dealer go to the manufacture's website and the normally have a list. Why would a reasonable person think that a non-authorized dealer would have significantly better prices than an authorized deale?
Do your homework and protect yourself. If a deals appears to be to good to be true then it probably is.

I just ordered a sigma lens. Was told it was a PE version.
But found nothing on line. Nothing from the Sigma site.
I booked a order on BuyHerePhoto.com for Canon eos 6d camera as I found its the cheapest price and I booked with my american express cr card.
I received an email confirming my order. I revied consumers review on this site, no one has recommended to buy from this site.
I called BuyHerePhoto.com customer service number, the representative informed me that they cannot process as I booked with my American express card and he suggested me to book the same oder with other cr card, also he informed me he cancelled my order.. I asked him to send an email saying that my order was cancelled, but he did not.
The response from this guy was very rude over phone. Since I read the reviews on this site, I didn't place new order with other cr card. Since American express only has consumer protection, they did not process my order and I was not in trouble.
My sincere request is DO NOT BUY ANY ITEM from this site. THIS SITE IS NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
The deals on the website seemed too good to be true. And reading all your comments, that appears to be the case.
I am blown away by their pressure and bullying tactic of customers by such statements as Nikon or Canon's "overseas plastic body" or "overseas model" does not come with battery. Seriously? Nikon and Cameras are same (for the same model series) regardless of where one is sold.
Nikon Digital cameras have regional warranty, but their lenses have International warranty coverage.
How is this company able to remain open? Aren't the credit card companies complicit in it? I reckon for those who have been ripped off, start off with the credit company and have your charges cancelled.
Has anyone actually received the advertised products from these guys? I wonder if some of their products are refurbished and being sold as new.
I DID MY HOMEWORK. WAS GOING TO BUY A CANON REBEL T3i, BUT SAW THAT THE PRICE THEY OFFER IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN B&H, AMAZON, OR EBAY. IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. BUT CLOSER EXAMINATION TELLS YOU THAT THEY DON'T GIVE MUCH DETAILS, AND DESCRIPTIONS ARE VAGUE. COULD TELL THAT THEY ARE SHADY BUSINESS. THANK GOODNESS I GOOGLED AND FOUND YOUR BLOG AND ALL THE COMMENTS! TROUBLE AVOIDED! THANK YOU!
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! THIS IS A CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH OPERATION. I had a similar experience as others who have submitted their stories but I thought I would post mine as truth is stranger than fiction (see excerpts from my phone conversation at the end of this posting if you do not wish to read the details).
I submitted an order for a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L EF IS II USM using my Amex card. Later that day I received an email telling me to call them to confirm my order. The next day I called them and was eventually put through to "Alex" who told me that they needed another credit card (MasterCard or Visa) since their connection to American Express was "down." After giving them the credit card number I was then asked what camera the lens was for. When I told him he told me a story that because of the sensor size of the camera, I would lose a lot of light through that lens. He then told me that he had a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG OS HSM PE EDITION lense that just came out two weeks ago. He also said that it had a chip in it that would correct for the smaller sensor size.
I did some further research on the lens and decided that I would go with the Canon lens after all. When I called back an hour later to inform him, he told me that my order had already shipped. Miraculous. He then told me that the Canon lens I wanted ($1300 their price) had a plastic mounting and that the version with the metal mounting would cost $2500. He then continued with the Sigma lens and how it would be a better deal. He then told me that he would offer me the lens along with a lens hood, UV, flourescent, and polarized filter, and a case for $1540 and that they would be required to ship the lens with insurance for $49. I asked him that if I were not satisfied, could I return the lens. He said "Of course." I then asked if I would have to pay ship it back. He said "Yes, but you won't be disappointed." So I agreed and asked that he put the order on my Amex. He told me that they did not take Amex and that they meant to take the Amex logo off of their website. I thought that strange since they originally told me their connection was merely down.
Not feeling comfortable with how things transpired I did some further research. First, I checked the US postal service website to see how much insurance costs. It turns out that items valued at $600.01 to $5000.00 cost $7.10 to insure. Now I was feeling even more like I was getting ripped off. So I then called Sigma to verify what "Alex" said about the lens. Sigma told me that they didn't make a PE model lens. I then called Canon to find out if they make a plastic mount version of their 20-700mm L IS II USM lens. They said all of L series lenses are metal mounts, not plastic. They added that NONE of their lenses are made with plastic mountings. At this point I knew I was being scammed.
I called my credit card company and told them I was going to cancel the order and not to pay the charge. I sent an email and left a phone meessage with Alex informing him of my decision. The next day I got a call from "Paul" the owner. Here is an excerpt from out conversation.
Paul: Why are you being a prick?
Me: Excuse me?
Paul: You heard me.
Me: I think you are being unprofessional.
…
Paul: Karma is a bitch and you'll get yours someday.
...
Paul: I hope that you get raped on the price by whoever you end up buying this lens from you old geyser.
At this point I just hung up on him. I almost wish I had stayed on the line as I would have more priceless quotes for my posting.
"This company is a scam: a Bait & Switch operation. I ordered a Canon EX430ii SpeedLite and charged to AMEX. Got a notice to please call. When I called they said AMEX is not accepted (why does the website allow to select it?). "What do you want to use the EX430ii for? ... No, the advertized $189 is for the version compatible with 35mm film cameras only. For digital cameras it's $289". When I called a 2nd time, same story. Called Canon Product Support: they confirmed that I was lied to. The EX430ii is compatible with diital cameras. Buyherephoto.com: Rude. Arrogant. Dishonest." Check them out at resellerratings.com.
Called to verify good prices and ask about their poor reviews-- I could not believe how rude they were and I was "disconnected" when I asked about the web-site being legit. RED FLAG!!!!!!!!
It appears from reading online reviews of BuyHerePhoto that I have been swindled like so many others.
I "bought" a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens, and paid extra for the UV filter and lens hood, for what seemed to be the too-good-to-be-believed price of $ 336.00 (Canon provides an estimated price of $649.99). Unfortunately, it was too good to be true.
I received a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro lens, which I could have purchased directly from Sigma, including the lens hood for $220.00.
Of course, at no time when I was ordering by telephone did "Alex" indicate that I would not receive a Canon lens.
When I requested a receipt, I was told it would be "in the box". Thus, there was no way to know prior to receiving the item that it would not be the Canon lens I ordered.
Unfortunately, being Canadian, I was advised that the only way I could pay for the lens was by wire transfer. There is no credit card payment that I can stop. There is no way to be reimbursed.
In addition to the cost of the lens, it cost money to send the wire transfer. The total amount was $ 385.25. I then had to pay UPS a total of $99.00 for "broker taxes".
In reading the reviews, I can see what happens now. I will have to pay to ship back the Sigma lens THAT I DID NOT ORDER. And then, I will be charged a restocking fee. So I will be out even more money. By then, I will have spent as much money as I would have had I bought the Canon lens from a retailer.
Caveat emptor (buyer beware), I suppose.
Thank God that I googled buyherephoto.com before I place the order. I will get my 60D now in Costco now.
Oh my God! I am lucky. Friends, please do some research before buying online. I clicked a link advertised at amazon's website. It first went to www.PriceClicks.com before going to the website.
Thank you for your site. There are some very knowledgable folks being scammed at BuyHerePhoto.com. You're certainly saving others like me a lot of headaches -- and money. Just remember everyone, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
These people are liars, cheats and untrustworthy. The Better Buiness Bureau has given them an F rating which is the lowest rating a company can get. If you google "buyphotohere.com" and the word "complaint" or "dispute," you will get over 100 hits between the two searches. DO NOT do business with them. I am not sure, but I think their address is 2277 McDonald Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11223. Warn others!
I ordered a Nikon D7000 Camera (body only, no lens). After taking all my payment details online, they emailed me 2 days later that I need to call a 800# to confirm. They mentioned that the camera does not come with Battery, or Carry strap. They also mentioned that this is an "Overseas package" (no mention of this in their website.) . The Representative refused to give their address or put the supervisor on line. Somebody needs to complain to the Attorney General's office.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! OMG I'm in tears! It's not even fair that I fell for this stupid scam! I'm so upset that I didn't find this link sooner! Just minutes ago I got off the phone with the 6th person at "BuyHerePhoto"! The first guy "confirmed" the order by asking for the security code on the back of the card. Then hung up on me! Why wasn't it on the website? Very suspicious! So I googled and found this page! I read ALL info and then became enraged! I knew this was too good to be true! A Nikon D5100 for $499 when it's about $800 elsewhere! UGH! So I thankfully got to call back fully knowledged, but I don't think it helped much! The 2nd guy I got immediately transferred me when I asked for tracking/shipping info. The 3rd guy did the classic "your model is the plastic overseas model and I can sell you the real USA model for $750". He also said it would take 6-8 weeks to get the camera. He ocmpletely avoided my questions of "why didn't the website say that?" Then when I said to cancel my order he said to CALL BACK! I was like: EXCUSE ME? Yeah...I had to call back and "ask" for Derek! Whatever. I called back and the 4th and 5th person transferred me to a 6th person. This woman was nice enough. I said I was trying to cancel and order and that it may have already been done. ALL she did to "cancel" my order was ask for my zip code and name! I asked if she needed my order number and she said no. I stuttered. I asked for a confirmation number or email for the cancellation and she said no. She said my card hasn't been charged and hung up. I guess it's time to call my husband's credit card company and beg for help in blocking this company and their charges that I'm SURE will still show up!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have been scammed by BuyHerePhoto.com please send a note to the
New York State Attorney Generals Office.
Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection.

Be sure to sign it.
Do this even if you do not reside in New York state. If we get enough complaints we should be able to close them down and possibly create a class action suit to regain loss money to fraudulent restocking fees.
I have also purchased from buyherenow and the same things have happend to me as well. They asked all this information which made no since. Also, sold me a cheaper lens and different model for my camera than I orignally wanted.. But *Alex* kept saying that the Nikon wouldn't work well with my Nikon camera to go with a Sigma charged me even more money than that Nikon in the end and all was ordered. I went to amazon and Sigma webstie camera and lens was 100.00 cheaper... I keep trying to reach them to cancel order and they already sent it and charged my card. I have been unsuccessful and have left messages several times no one has called me back!! I have contacted my bank to try to get the charges reversed and have them investigated. I am praying my money will be returned to my account!! What else can I do? OTHERS BEWARE THEY ARE A SCAM!!! DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY!!my email is familyis4ever@myfairpoint.net
Too late for me to read these warnings, or I should be exempted from this bait and switch scam.
I was led to believe what I purchased is a Nikkor lens, but what I got is a brand which is inferior. I called to check and they tried to settle with me with different deals. I refused and asking for full refund. They said I need to pay 10% restocking fee. No way!!
I then called the credit card company to report this scam and they promised me that if I don't get a full refund from buyphotohere.com, I can file a dispute to get full refund.
In addition to informing the New York State Attorney generals office (see my earlier post) also file an online complaint at New York City Consumer Affairs' website. http://www.nyc.gov/html/dca/html/resources/complaint.shtml
I spoke often with Alex and listened to his never ending bs but kept telling him that I wanted to return the lens. It took over an hour but he gave me a RMA number which he made up on the spot.
I suggest that you ship the lens back to them but be sure to require a signature. You can use any RMA number even if they don't give you one because if they do sign for it then you are successful in returning it. If they refuse the package then it will just come back to you.
Be sure to call the credit card company and 'disputed' the charge. After successfully returning the lens to them I called and cancelled my credit card so that they could not charge my card for the restocking fee.

RMA number are only used by legitimate companies for tracking repairs, replacement and refunds. This company is not legitimate and they use the RMA number as a way of intimidating customers.
Alex insisted that I put a money order into the box to pay for the restocking fee. I said okay but did not actually include it. He was pretty upset but they had signed for it.
They credited my credit card for the full purchase amount.
Keep fighting! Good Luck.
I am glad I read this. I placed an order with them, two weeks ago. Instead of getting an email confirming my order. I got one saying I need to call them, to confirm my order. That did not sound right. I have not, and will not call them. They can ether send what I orderd. Or cancle it, on there own. I orderd a Canon T2i, body only. I do not need anything else. And will just ignore their emails. I thought the price was to low, to be true From what I have read here, it was, and is. I will buy the camera elsewhere.
I should have checked them out before placing an order. I have learned a good lession. And not lost anything.
I am thankful, for people like you.
Thanks for saving me from I know would have been a nightmare. I was looking at a nikon d3x for 3500.00.
List 7999.00. Wondered how they could do that now i know.
Thanks guys for sharing your experience and helping to not fall into troubles. Very useful thread.
I got full refund because I challenged them to dispute the charge through credit card company.
Don't buy from them! If you did already, tell them you will call credit card company! It helps!
Thank you all for all of your comments/post. It saved me. BuyHerePhoto's price was so good to be true that I was hopeful (Canon 580 flash for $ 309/ 16-35mm lens for $ 900 something). I gathered from their rep that they are based in New York (could be lie) what flag me is the information rep that I talk to, seems to be so bogus.
Thanks, you saved me $1000!
I ordered a Nikon D7000 and "got a really good deal". I soon got an email back from them saying I need to call and confirm shipping details. I called and they said they're AMEX terminal was down, they tried to get me to give them a new credit card number. I declined and said I would patiently wait until the terminal was back up. I thought this was a little fishy and called AMEX and they said they couldn't find there company listed anywhere. I am going to cancel my order and have AMEX look into this. DEFINITLY DO NOT ORDER FROM BUYHEREPHOTO.COM!! THEY ARE A FRAUD COMPANY THAT SCAMS INNOCENT PEOPLE!!
I wanted to get a new cannon camera the body only. On nexttag this was the cheapest site. 540 instead of 900. They made me call them to give credit number and tried the bait and switch for 20 min and I didn't go for it. Found a battery 100 dollars cheaper else where. It has been 2 months and I have not received my camera body.
Frauds ! Beware. I think they are looking for information on your credit card. I had to cancel the credit card for the foolishness I made.
I was scammed also by this website! I called to order a canon lens and was told that it would not work for my camera because it was a cropped sensor camera and was recommended a different sigma lens which was supposed to be a PE or professional series of the lens. I asked them why it was $300 more through them than on other websites and they assured me that it was because I was getting the Professional series. They lied to me. After recieving the lens I could see no difference from the ones listed for $300 dollars cheaper. I called the manufacturer of the lens and they told me it was a scam! They said they only make one version of the lens and that PE on the bottom of the box stood for a recycling symbol! I called them to return the item and was told that I had to pay a 15% restocking fee! I threw a fit and told them they lied and they dropped it down to 10% and said no exceptions, even after they lied and I told them that I called the manufacturer and he said they lied! They told me that I could not return unless I payed the restocking fee. At this point I was just tired of arguing with them, YES, arguing with them, so I said forget it I will just send it back and pay the 10% fee and take my business elsewhere and I will still save money on the lens even after paying the fee. So the guy told me that I had to fax a copy of a check for the restocking fee to them before they would send me an rma number. I called my bank and disputed the charge and they told me not to send them a copy of my check because then they would have my info. They cancelled my debit card and told me to just send it back and get a receipt from the post office showing where I sent it back and a delivery confirmation. I will be sending a link to this website to the bank's fraud department to help aid in the dispute investigation. I really hope to get my money back on this. Beware! Do not buy from this place. VERY RUDE and LIARS! TOTAL SCAM!!

My beautiful wife called in an order for a Canon 5D mk II camera to replace my aging 40D. They bait and switched her to buy a 60D. Now the 60D is a nice camera but what they didn't tell her was there was a 10% restock fee. Granted it is mentioned on their web site. we returned it. It was a ridiculous hassle, We had to Box the shipping box in another box and ship that! And the sales pressure was relentless. Do yourself a favor, and avoid these "used car" sale men!
In New York for some reason the Russian Jewish businesses like this is never put out of business. As far as scam they understand how to do this in NYC especially "Crooklyn" I meant Brooklyn. The police always say when you call them that is not our problem you have to call FEDS about. And they always change name of business every 6 months. Take my advice dont buy from these CROOKS. Bad News!!!!!!!
I ordered 2 days ago and just like you said...they left an email for me to contact them. I found this forum yesterday and decided to first call my credit card co. and report this. They said it hadn't gone thru, that the company needed the security code on the back of the card. So I just got off the phone with BHP and when they asked for the code I said I wanted to cancell and they said fine but we will charge you a restock fee, I said it hasn't left the shelf yet, and he said then we charge a cancelation fee and I said that is not listed on your site and have already taked to my credit card company and reported you as fraudlent and that there was an alarming amount of pad press about the company and guess what....he hung up on me. My card company said that I was covered for fraudlent activity anyway. Thank you so much for helping me with this forum. I purchased my camera from E-bay and paid more but I am getting what I paid for.
Thank you for sharing all the info. I came across their site via Calibex which is part of Nextag. I'm in the market for a SB-700 to add to my Nikon system and they offered this flash for $219. I know for a fact that this flash sells for over $320 brand-new and refurbished for around $280. So, I figured that they either sell grey-market products as genuine or apply the good old bait and switch technique. Upon "googling" them I came across your blog. Thanks so much!

I am from sa,tx and at one time "was" going to buy my equipment from these people, their prices are so "unbelievably" low,and when i wrote to them about 3 times inquiring about some of their stuff, they "never" responded, thank god for"not" ordering anything from them, and now after reading all the negative things about them.........i took my business else where!!!!!!! thanks guys and gals.
I just got suckered with buyherephoto.com bait and switch. there address is

I wish I had read this info first! Total bait and switch! Changed my canon lense to a cheaper sigma lense and charged more! Run for the hills! I have filed a dispute my CC company!
I ordered and paid for a Canon lens and received a Sigma lens. I complained to New York State's Division of Consumer Protection (DCP), who sent a letter to BuyHerePhoto but did not receive a reply. The DCP then turned my complaint over to the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs, who sent a letter to BuyHerePhoto. A Derrick Thompson, listed as the owner of BuyHerePhoto, sent a fax to the DCA, stating that I ordered a Sigma lens and "was informed" that I was purchasing a Sigma lens at the time of ordering. I responded to the DCA, noting that if I called to order the Sigma lens, I wouldn't needed to have been "informed" that I was ordering a Sigma lens, nor would I have been charged the amount for a Canon lens. I received a letter today from the DCA advising that "BuyHerePhoto is not required to have a license by this agency because they are an internet company without a set establishment (store)". Apparently, the DCA "cannot take further action", but I was provided with information regarding suing in Small Claims Court in NYC. Too bad I live in Canada. This is how BuyHerePhoto gets away with fraud.
