Hello,
Complete scam. I bought a Nikon D7000 and was overcharged for batteries and SD card. I was able to stop the UPS package mid flight and they recieved it 11 days ago. I still have not recieved a refund. I should have known. to good to be true. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Look at the reviews on YELP
Beware
Recently placed an order for digital camera. Website and shopping catr indicated price as 389.00, including free shipping, plus free camera accessory kit (tripod, lens cleaning kit, etc.
Got confirmation via email. 5-days later got a call from a different area code than the one on the site. They told me an additional ~ $65 - for MANDATORY INSURANCE that would need to be paid for them to ship the item(s). I cancelled order. There was no INSURANCE mentioned in their pricing on shopping cart. Besides, why should I have to pay for them insuring the item???
This outfit is a fraud. Now I'm worried about my credit card info being in their hands!!!
Total rip off. Nikon Coolpix S9100 advertised for $271, free shipping, placed order and a few days later had to talk to salesman and was told why I didn't order a rechargeable battery. A rechargeable Li-ion batter and ac charger comes with the camera from Nikon. Was told this camera has a non rechargeable battery (no such thing) but I can upgrade to a 5 hour battery but why not just upgrade to the 7 hour battery and a quick ac charger for $385 plus $25 s&h. Just got the package and its the Coolpix S9100 with the original package from Nikon. There is no extended runtime battery or ac quick charge. It contains all the original items from Nikon that retails for $329. I just got scammed and paid $385 for a $329 camera and there was no free shipping. Now I have to waste my time and either get some credit back or return the item and they want to charge a 15% restocking fee. Totally bullshit, scammers DO NOT BUY from these scammers and save yourself the headaches I'm going through.
I bought a Sony Cyber Shot DSC-HX9V. I called to find out what was up with my order and was talked in the extended battery, quick charger, and one yr warrenty, (I was a fish). The first tracking number contained only the the free 5 piece accessory kit but the enclosed invoice said it was all there! Two days later I got the camera without the extended battery or quick charger. Several calls to Instockdigital ph # 718-676-0942 has got me nowhere. Customer support is a recording and the real people there quickly transfer you to the recording as soon as they realize they already got you. The shipping label says it came from DIGITAL 1223 McDonald Ave Brooklyn, NY 11230. The camera came in a second shipment from TRI-STATE INC (WAREHOUSE) 212-633-2454 150 Sullivan St Brooklyn, NY 11231.
I wish I would have read these reviews before doing business with them. I purchased a camera for $269 (cheapest on the internet). They noted free shipping. Ten days after I placed my order I receive a phone call from them. High pressure salesman trying to sell me batteries, cases, and other accessories. He got aggravated with me when I told them no thank you. He then told me that there is a mandatory $49 fee for insurance. I cancelled my order. They are crooks. I'm glad I used a credit card that creates a unique number for individual purchase. Stay away from these guys.
I ordered a Nikon last night from these guys and this morning read the confirmation and then the posts here.
Rather than wait 10 days to get screwed I called them.
"we see that you didn't order the $149 battery" No thank you, "with handling and insurance an additional charge of $50" I don't want insurance.
All of our shipments require insurance on top of our "free" shipping.
they did however cancel without argument.
I purchased a nikon d3100 with 2 lenes for $649 after the camera did'nt ship i called the company salesman who stated the camera came with non rechargable battery and no charger. But if i upgraded to a kit for $949 i would get a fast charger and 7 hr battery. Upon receiving the merchandise i reviewed the manuel which stated the camera came with a rechargeable battery and quickcharger(which were in the box)
no other battery and charger came with the camera. The camera and lenes did not come in the original packaging but a white box with a nikon label. No warranty info on the camera or lenses. These guys are crooks. If you were unlucky to have purchased any products from this company "instock digital dba "cracycameradeal.com) call your credit card company and open a dispute file to get your money back.
instockdigital.com & digitalelect.com are the same and completely bogus... don't be fooled by their prices & check you credit card statements.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
Received an email A WEEK after ordering asking me to call and verify the order, which i did.
Eventually spoke to a guy that told me his name was Alan. He told me i needed to buy a new battery for the camera as it doesn't come with a very good one. I told him "No thanks". He then told me I needed to buy a new charger. I said "No Thanks". He was extremely pushy and I told him I only wanted what I ordered.
He then bluntly told me I HAD to buy firmware as it doesn't come with it $100 for 2009 and $200 for 2010. I had not seen this anywhere on the website (its there if you REALLY hunt for it!) not even in the checkout.
When i told him this was obviously the catch to the cheap deal he got extremely rude and told me. "Here is the catch i have cancelled your order. Don't worry". WOW.
I then asked his name and told him I would be speaking to customer service regarding his poor attitude. He told me I was speaking to customer services and he was the owner!!!!! WOW AGAIN!!!
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They clearly offer false prices online with an ever changing sale and are extremely rude and pushy.
Worst customer experience EVER!
thanks for posting!!! I was getting ready to buy from them!
I got the same song and dance as the others. When I cancelled on a Monday I was told I'd have to pay insurance and handling for shipment anyway. When I objected he told me to refuse it! Since I was cancelling before shipment was made that didn't make sense. Called my credit card company to launch a dispute. The following week the box showed up. I refused on the spot. I am fighting any charges they want as of the day I cancelled. Glad I have a big credit card company to back me up.
OMG, thank god for all these comments.
I was just about to put in my billing info to get TWO cameras, one for me and one as a gift to my cousin.
I compared the price of the camera to all the other legit stores and it was 200 dollars cheaper. Then I saw that big clock ticking out saying only 10 hours until this offer ends. And i figured it must be an overstock item that's why they are selling it so cheap.
Still, the only thing that made me suspicios is that i was thinking of buying yesterday, but didnt, and today, the ticking clock just restarted saying "weekend sale extended" ...
darn, i though. let me at least check these people out before i graciously give them my month's savings.
I first checked them on BBB.org (better business bureau) - which is a great organization btw, and they didnt have any rating with them. This was very odd, cause ALL the legit businesses voluntarily send information to the organization.
Then i decided to look up google, and this is what i came across. I am very thankful that i read this information on time.
I am only concerned about my friend who referred this website to me, she already purchased a camera for 350 yesterday.
F it. if im called and they say i need to pay an extra 150 dollars for that order, i would rather buy from B&H or BestBuy, or any other legit business, cause the price would become comparable.
once again, thanks for all the reviews, and it STILL amazes me how these businesses can still work without being audited or inspected by the federal government.
Stay away. I ordered a(red)Canon SD780is for $149 on 8/27/11. I received an email from them a week later telling me to call to confirm the order. The rep told me that the red was no longer available, but had a black one; but it did not come with a battery or charger. I said I didn't need one. Then I was told that that shipping would be $20. OK. At this point, he tried to sell me a Canon 940- "a much better camera". Not the camera I want. Then I needed to buy the software- 09 for $29 or 2011 for $49. At that point I said "Now you've added at least $50to the price- no thanks. He said I'll cancel your order and immediately hung up. I'm hoping that I will be refunded. I don't feel good that they have my cc #.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST! I was just about to purchase from them!!
was just about to buy a canon 100 mm f2.8L lens from these guys are they are about 150$ cheaper than amazon.
thanks for posting these reviews ... saved me a lot of hassle.
Ordered at what we thought was a good price. Shipping was even free, but handling and insurance, NEVER mentioned on the website, turned out to be $100 extra. Then they tried to sell us the rechargeable battery, charger, memory card, etc etc etc. Total mislead and scam.
Thanks for the tip off... the ugly website tipped me off that I should do some looking under the hood. Glad I did!!!
I am glad I found this site before I was thinking about to make a purchase. Thanks!!
My experience is the same as many others. Offered an amazing price for a Nikon D3100, then charged crazy amount for battery and card. when I said I didn't want it any more, they said they had shipped it (though they gave me not tracking info) and I would have to pay $100 to stop shippment. My question is who can you report a company like this to to get them shut down?
I bought a Coolpix L120 - or tried to. After 10 days all I had was the email confirming of the order. So I googled them, and then got really nervous. You can call only between 11am and 4pm, so at 11:02 I called. Voice answering system said there were 6 people ahead of me (2 minutes after they opened!)..waited about 10 minutes, Lady Gaga hold music. A surly guy answered, I asked to cancel my order, he asked why? I said "it's been 10 days since I ordered...". He said "Okay, it's cancelled" and hung up. Twenty minutes later a cancellation email appeared. Now I guess I just watch my credit card. :-\
I tried to buy a canon rebel t3i. They called and tried to sell me on all kinds of things that were not included. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. SCAM ARTISTS.
Sham!
We ordered a Nikon P500. Sounded good, until we got a call a week before expected arrival. We were told they the camera was on backlog and just came in and would be shipped the next day. Okay, fine. Then, they proceeded to try and sell us batteries, chargers, etc. Okay, fine, but no. Then they said the firmware was not included, and would cost us about another $99-129 so we could even turn on the camera. Well, as everyone knows, you can download free firmware for just about anything, SO NO THANKS! They said they couldn't ship without the firmware and they were cancelling our order. That did it! Okay, fine, cancel it! This was and will be the LAST time we even look at their website. BEWARE!
yup,i ordered my item 10 days ago and never received it, they didn't contact me either. after reading this post i was shocked and gave them a call this morning. the guy was easy going at first and i said cancel my item and it was what he did. i was surprised the cancellation was that easy to be completed, which made me suspect that he might be also profited any after the cancellation. maybe using my credit card info? i googled the company and then found out they have open their business since july ,2011. 3 months went through and they already gathered a lot of credit card info, i think his next step will be closing his online business and just overusing his customers' visa or credit cards. does anyone know how to shut this website down and get this guy caught?
It looked too good to be true...and it is!! Its a scam! Same horrible experience as many others. Called about my order after more than a week and was told a battery and charger did not come with the camera, even though the site says it does. I say no, thanks. Then he said I HAD to order firmware for another $150 or the camera won't turn on. He was incredibly rude the whole time. And for another $150 I can buy the camera from a real company!
Instockdigital - waht a complete waste of time !!! They cancelled my order after I had been waiting 2 weeks. No email. No notification. When I finally got through to someone on a phone call (Allen - so he said) he was the most unpleasant, rude, and vile individual. This is a fraudulent site with fraudulent practices.
BEWARE AND STAY AWAY
FRAUD/SCAM/UNPLEASANT, is still a generous title to put on this company. they claimed themselves to be a family-owned business, and that you (the customer) will be treated like "family". I just don't imagine how they treat themselves. I purchased a nikon D3100, of ocurse thinking the best price in the market. The same day, I called to upgrade the shipment. In the website says 3days UPS $24.00 but he (Alan) said no, it's $35, I said, well that's not what the website said. Then he said BTW the camera you got comes with a 20 minute battery. I said to him there's no SUCH THING ever that Nikon being a prestigious company sells out cameras with a 20 minute-battery. Then, he said you MUST buy a rechargeable bat for $149 AND a re-charger. ABSOLUTELY BULLSHIT. He then said, you have 3 options, #1, get the 20-min battery, #2 buy the $149 bat or #3 cancel the order. I said I will take option #3, DO CANCEL MY ORDER, which hopefully he did. Seriously, don't know how this companies are still running. they make money or returns, stocking fees, etc. AS___LES.!!
I think this is the same oufit as interstate camera. When I called about order of coolpix L120 they were rude and pushy to sell batteries. When I told him to cancel order he stated I would be charged cancelation fee. I went to the trouble of canceling my credit card as they had my info.
BOTTOM LINE, DON'T DEAL WITH INTERSTATE CAMERA
