Firstclasscameras.com aka First Class Cameras: SKETCHY!

A new site showing up as a sponsored link on Bing is firstclasscameras.com.  It looks pretty sketchy.  A Nikon D90 for $679?  It's $699.95 on Amazon.

Click on the "verified by Visa" card fraud protection image.  It doesn't take you to Visa's site, it just refreshes back to firstclasscameras.com.

There is no physical address listed on the "contact us" page, and their whois data is private.

They copied a review from B&H:
No reviews on resellerratings yet, but I'd be very careful ordering from these guys.

I recently came across this website and was so excited about the price of a camera I have been looking to buy that I didn't even think twice about the legitimacy of the site. I ordered the camera and received a phone call from the company this morning asking for the 3-digit code on the back of my credit card. After I gave them the code, the gentleman informed me that I had purchased the grey market version. Obviously I had not intended to, so I immediately pulled up the website and asked him where this was stated. He ignored my question and told me I could purchase the US version, but the price was the average retail price (which I was not ready to spend yet) and I told him to cancel my order. Asking him again where it was stated on the website that the camera I ordered was gray market, he quickly responded that "it's in the product code, thank you for calling", and hung up on me. So far there have been no charges on my credit card, but after his shady behavior you better believe I'll be watching. Do NOT order from this site!

Looked shady to me too, and a search of the phone number came up with a non existent address, or at least google maps and my gps couldn't find it. Address and a 5 star rating from a single customer can be found here: https://www.ekomi-us.com/feedback-firstclasscamerascom.html They are using a Go Daddy proxy address for URL registration, but can't blame them for that. Order page does come up as https. I don't mind grey market as I'm going to convert camera for astrophotography, which will void any warranty anyway, but don't really want to trust giving out credit card info. If Paypal was accepted, with their return of money policy if scammed, I'd take a chance!

HI
Just to let you know that I did the same thing ordered canon 7d and speedlite. I recieved an email asking me to call, The caller told me it was grey market and did not come with a battery, I told him no where does it say it is grey market, and in the specs it says has battery. I told him to cancel the order and that I would be informing my bank to watch for any charges concerned with them.
Please steer clear of these people.

They claim to be in Miami, I had the exact same experience. Nikon D700 discontinued...sell a DX based camera with new technology to yield FX...a bunch of Miami Jews running a scam.....

Anonymous said...

Thanks guys if only people don't take the effort of passing on you experience we would have fallen for the trap too. The Nikon D7000 which is regularly priced at $1k+ was a steel at $700, that's when I googled reviews about this store. I don't believe it too. So I would advice anyone not to take any chances

Look at the prices of accessories. If they can not load you up with extras, they will not sell. They are dishonest.

THESE PEOPLE ARE A SCAM! They do it blatantly. When you call as a new customer they have it in stock and ready to ship. After you order you get an email asking to call and then can get your security code on your card. Then they lay on the bullshit about a grey market product you ordered and try to get you to pay hundreds more for the same thing. Finally as a last resort they say it will take 4 weeks to ship. It's all lies and bullshit stay away. I had to put an alert on my credit card.

well thanks to all of you and the comments. I am so glad I did NOT order from these folks. It is hard enough to make ends meet in these days, but to get ripped off is even harder.

SAME! placed order 2/22 and my account was charged immediately! Got so much fast talking and most of it was BS. Tried to cancel 2/23 but was told it had already shipped, however, when I called back on 2/27 was told they had a bad batch of lenses and would be cancelling my order and crediting my account! I did not see the credit until 3/1, but it had actually been posted on 2/23 the same day I was originally told it had shipped.

I don't deal with liars and they are the worst! I cancelled my card and got a new number as they had both the number and the three digit code on the back. Not taking any chances with these guys. And, oh yeah, you can never get through a call without at least 10 minutes of being on hold to really loud bad music!!!

STAY AWAY!

The Better Business Bureau lists the following information for the firstclasscameras.com web site:

FirstClassCamera.com
1111 Caroline Street
Brooklyn, NY 11229

The site does not list an address. It does state that the products come with a 1-Yr USA Warranty??? It would be better if this stated a Canon USA warranty.

so I ordered the canon 60D on Mar 9over the net on a Fri. called Monday to confirm receipt of my order. they sent out confirmation email. Called a week later asked what H/S meanton the email. "hold status" I was told.
Why? "It's on backorder for 4-6 weeks."
called a week later. fast talkin' John so-called customer service supervisor asked who told me it was on backorder? and in doing a lot more fast talking told me that he was gonna send me a better deal. The american version, what i originally ordered was the japanese version with Jap. language only. I stated, the website didn't state that. said he was going to send me a metal tripod, 5 hour baTTERY, camera bag yada yada.. like a dumbass I went for it. this putz sent me a rebel T3I, a vivitar cheapy rubber tripod that was only 6"tall. told me to try it over the weekend and see if I liked it. told him I already have a rebel. well yoyu'll have to send me a $75 money order to cover the restocking fee.

My bank informed me that I should have to pay no such fee since all products were misrepresented and I didn't get what was was originally asked for. I looked for complaints for thisd site before I ordered from them. Wish I had found this site weeks ago! I'd have made out better buying a used 1 that I could have inspected 1st!

By the way the adrress I was given for the return was

2277 Mcdonald Ave
2nd floor
Brooklyn NY 11223

TRULY LET ALL BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS SITE.

First Class Cameras What a scam.. I wish I would have looked for reviews before purchasing from them. I originally purchased a Canon 60D Kit, I wanted to upgrade from a Pentax K-x. I ordered and too like everyone on here got an email the next day stating I needed to call to confirm the order. When calling I was connected with "John" he asked why I purchased this particular camera and informed unless I was doing overseas work it wasnt going to work in the US. So he went into his fast talking mode and told me of two different types of cameras that were good as the 60D. When I got the camera it was a T3 when I looked up the price of the T3 and what I spent I was furious. I contacted them that Monday, I was only put on hold for about 20 minutes and talked with 5 different people. The minute I said I needed to return my camera I would be placed on hold. Finally I was connected with "John" and he said well you will have to send back the camera with a money order of $149.70 which is 15% to restock the camera. I said well on your paperwork it states 10% he said oh I gave you a deal on that camera and you have to pay the full 15% to send it back. After that he started trying to sell me another camera, I said no thank you I just want to send my camera back, then said well goodbye.

I had to call my bank, which I was informed to make a police report. I also made a complaint on the internet crime website. My bank refunded me the money and they are going after this so called company. I sent back the camera which had a dirty lens with fingerprints and scratches back. I put an envelope with all the information I was told to send from my bank and police department. No do not send them any money...that is how they are making their money. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM...THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE HEADACHE.

First of all, all the comments above are true. I just got scammed last Thursday where my husband ordered a Canon 7D kit from the website. They called a few hours later for the 3 digit # on the card. They did the usual explanation of how I was going to need to buy more merchandise for this camera to actually work properly. Then they had a DEAL for me. Ok, so I didn't know any better (lucky me) and I was stupid enough to pay them $4600 for the better deal that, once it arrived, was a total misprepresentation of what I thought I was getting. Now they want a $600 restocking fee and won't give me a refund until I include that $600 in the box. Called my bank, they called First Class Cameras, the bank was lied to about their return policy. When First Class told me my bank was lying I got them on the phone together. In any event, I'm in the process of shipping this crap back for the refund, losing $600 on the deal, and we'll see if I get the full refund of what I paid. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS SHADY OUTFIT..YOU'LL REGRET IT!
